Question How to get from Universal Studios to Disneyland?

OK, so I just found out that work is going to send me to LA for three days, and I happen to have most of one day free! My hotel is right next to Universal Studios, but I'd much rather spend my free day visiting my favorite Mouse. Mapquest says it's only about 30 miles to drive, but ....um..... LA traffic? How long is it really going to take me to get there? If I don't rent a car, is there an easy way to get to DL from Universal? Am I going to be able to get enough of a Mickey fix to justify the ticket cost, and still make it back for my 5:00pm meeting? Thanks for any advice!!

The distance is really not far, (30 miles is about right) but the traffic can be bad...and needing to be back for a 5 pm meeting would put you right in the middle of rush hour traffic. Personally, I would (regretfully) skip the day with Mickey...it would not be worth the headache of traffic.

Yea you have to hit that traffic just right or you are doomed!!! Maybe Mickey can wait till next trip?? In LA cars are life. Public Transportation is very slow and awkard! LA is a mixture of lots of different cities so public transportation is not good! Best of luck.

PS: There is a Shuttle that goes from Orange County to Universal Studios. But I can't remember the name. Sorry. I will try to find it.

between LA and Anaheim, it's about 90-120 mins.

there's always the El Capitan theatre and the disney ice cream shop on hollywood blvd.

i could easily keep myself amused on hollywood blvd all day.

but the others are correct. That 30 miles can easily take an hour, in decent traffic, and to get back for a 5pm meeting, more like 60-90 minutes.

I wouldn't do it..as much as I DL.

We just did this yesterday. We went from the Hilton right next to Universal down to Disneyland Hotel. We left the Hilton about 3:45pm and got to DL Hotel at 5:10. And the traffic was crazy!

Thanks everybody! I was afraid the drive might take that long. I might take my chances and try to get to DL before park opening (I'll be on east coast time anyway....) and then leave by 2:00 to get back for my meeting. But I haven't decided for sure. It's just tough to be that close for my first time ever and not be able to see Mickey! again!
