Tijuana is about 110 miles (two hours driving) from Disneyland. You would take I-5 South to the border.

A couple of recommendations:

1. Stop in San Diego and take the trolly to the border SDMTS - Trolley Information . The trolly is about $2.00 each way from Downwton San Diego to the border.

2. If you are going to drive, park on the CA side and walk in. Parking is available

3. If you are going to drive into Mexico (including beaches south of Tijuana) you really MUST stop on the US side and by Mexican car insurance. Your US policy will not be recognized by Mexico in the event of an accident. You could end up in jail until financial repayment is arranged. Also, most car rentals will not let you drive the car into Mexico.

And, of course, verify the identification requirements for returning. Rules for re-entering from Canada and Mexico keep changing. Best is a passport, or the new Passsport ID. At a minimum have driver's license and birth certificate.

And another thing - if you do decide to drive - be prepared for TONS of crazy traffic, run-down roads, and general chaos as soon as you cross the border. And plan some time to get back...sometimes it takes a long time to cross into the US, with people trying to sell you stuff!

I second the recommendation of taking the trolley from San Diego. It would also give you a chance to explore this truly beautiful city.
