Newport Beach Area

I will be staying in Newport Beach (right by Newport Pier) and need to know where a close grocery store is. Can anybody help me? Where we are, I'm not sure how easy it will be to find a local who'd know the area.....

Or, maybe just the grocery chains that are in the area, and I can look up addresses on line to plug into our GPS.

There's an Albertson's on Balboa Blvd (actually inbetween Balboa and Newport Blvd.) a few blocks before the Newport Pier. so if you're coming down the 55 which turns into Newport Blvd, it'll be on your right side after you get onto the Peninsula and pass the Lido area. it's a nice, clean store. hope you have fun! I grew up in Newport and love it there. be sure to try the Crab Cooker across Balboa Blvd from the pier. Awesome seafood!

I found the Albertson's when I Yahoo'd them - and it is only blocks from where we are (we're around 17th St., I think). We are spending a week in a beachfront condo and will be eating in most nights. However, there is this little brewery that we went to a million years ago (ok, about 11) in a white and green clapboard building, where 55 is one-way (you can't see the other direction of traffic, therefore you can't see it from one of the directions), in the vicinity of The Old Spaghetti Factory. They have the best bread! Or, at least, they did 11 years ago! I just can never remember the name of it....maybe I'll google that one too. Edit - I may have found it - Newport Beach Brewing Company...go figure!

We are taking the kids to Legoland (shhhhhh! it's a surprise), but otherwise, plan to kick back and enjoy the beach - which is why we did this in the first place, right?

sounds like a great trip! the beaches are absolutely beautiful in Newport. there's a bike path between the homes/condos and the stretch of beach. many places to rent bikes, etc. it's fun to ride or rollerskate down the strip. we love Balboa island also. take the car ferry near Balboa pier (further down the peninsula). and the Ruby's at the end of the Balboa pier is a family favorite. We're going to Legoland also! i'm taking my youngest next week while my older 2 are away at camp. it's fun to talk about Newport - i have many memories of fun summers at the beach. i hope you enjoy it!

I can't help you with a grocery store, but I can tell you that Newport Beach is so nice- the beaches are wonderful! We try to visit there at least 1-2 times per year. Have fun and enjoy! :-)
