| It is just over 5 hours from the center of San Diego to the center of Las Vegas. ![]() (it just may feel a little longer though while you are driving I-15 for 200+ miles though . . . not much out there in the desert.

| I actually think it's closer to 6 hours, with stops (especially depending on if you have kids). I think 5 is pushing it and it depends on not running into any traffic out of the population centers and roadwork on I 15 outside of Barstow. If you take I 15 out of SD, you will run into a place called Tom's Farms (I think - there are signs for it) that's a nice respite, but it's really close to SD in the grand scheme of things, so it depends on when you leave. Otherwise, the best stops (for a "halfway point") are Barstow and Baker. Barstow has an outlet mall and lots of fast food off of Lenwood and then, if you go all the way through town and take the second Main Street exit, you'll find Barstow Station. It's not much, but it's a tradition for us to stop there every time we drive to So. Cal. Baker is not really a blip on the map, but it boasts the world's tallest thermometer and Alien Jerky. And, if it's still running, the Desperado roller coaster in Primm, NV (stateline, where the Premium Outlet mall is) is really cool. We haven't seen it going recently, but we also travel at off times, so we could just be missing it.

| It took us just over five hours when we went Las Vegas to San Diego a couple of years ago. We only stopped once for gas and a restroom break.
