driving LAX to DL - looking for local advice

Are there any DL locals with any advice for our drive from LAX to DL? We're leaving in 3 days, I've got my maps, got my brother's GPS, got my Passporter but the voice of experience is very welcome.

Traffic will be bad on the weekdays in the AM hours before 9 since everyone is heading for work --- traffic will pick up around 4:30 when people are heading home.... Weekends are better on the freeways.....

Ah, Sunday afternoon. That's going to be way better than a weekday, but no guarantees!

I would ask the car rental associates to direct you to the 105 Freeway heading east (the 105 pretty much ends at LAX, so just in case you go the wrong way, you'll find out pretty quick, hehe!).

Take the 105 east until it ends at the 605. Take the 605 South to the 5 east (it's pretty quick, just a few minutes so don't miss it). Take the 5 east until you see the Harbor Blvd exit (about 15 miles, give or take?).

That's my recommendation for the best route.

Yep, take the 105 east to the 605 (about 18 miles) and go north on the 605 until you reach I-5 (about 4 miles) and then go south to Harbor Blvd (about 14 miles)and follow the signs.

When they redid DL a few years back (wow, how many years was that?!) and added DTD and DCA, they also revamped the freeway exits. It's now really well marked and easy to follow.

Oops, w-steele is right! From the 105 you head NORTH on the 605 to get to the 5. Yeah, I've only lived here all my life, lol!
