Opinions on airports other than SNA

So the pricing on flights into Los Angeles or Long Beach are always cheaper than into Orange County. Usually Ive opted for the convenience of SNA, but the price difference seems to be growing. I've flown into LAX but never LGB. Would love to hear from people that have flown into both as to which you think is the better alternative, what shuttle service you used, etc.

We flew into Long Beach last year and we weren't overly impressed with it. It's a very, very small airport and the luggage came out on to the kerbside in a non-secure area. That's fine, as there was nothing to stop us walking out there and everyone was already waiting, but it took ages to come out. We didn't have a great experience and, if possible, we'd always use SNA in the future.

You have a choice of several airports.
http://www.passporterboards.com/forums/dl-getting-there-back/101069-airports-serving-area.html
Here is the information about transport from the airport to DL

DISNEYLAND AREA TRANSPORTATION INFO. --- updated 10/07

If you are renting a car, I like to use either Ontario or San Diego as an alternate.
Only LAX is a really big airport, the rest are small, so don't expect lots of services, but all are reasonable alternatives if the price is right.

When we flew to Hawaii in October, the price difference was such that we drove from Las Vegas to LAX. Even with parking fees, we were saving several hundred dollars! We found it easy to get around, though food choices were limited in gate areas. Security is interesting, as they only looked at DH's ID, though there were 4 adults in the group! We don't regret going through LAX, at all!

We've always had good experiences at LAX too. We don't have any direct flights to SNA anymore, so we'll be using it more. Our only real reason for flying into SNA was proximity to DLR.

I love LAX
My wife loves John Wayne
So guess which one we use.

Actually though we have never had a problem at John Wayne

And Super Shuttle from there to Disney was very fast

and reasonable in price.

Super Shuttle serves all the airports. Flying into Long Beach saves you maybe 15 minutes driving time over a flight into LAX (assuming the freeway hasn't been turned into a parking lot).

I've never had the opportunity to fly into SNA, but a number of my family members do, and they love it (compared to LAX). I can get loads of reasonably-priced direct flights into LAX, but the few flights into SNA for me would require a stopover and higher fare. I know it's a much easier drive, because I have driven past SNA, but any time I gain on the highway would be lost in the stopovers. Your mileage, as always, will vary.

We flew into Longbeach. We had a very good experience. The bags came out quickly, and picked up our rental easily as well.
From stepping off the plane and driving on the freeway..was under 20 minutes..

I have flown into Ontario a few times, and it is not very far to DLR from there. 30 - 45 min maybe? It's a small airport, and I like the convenience of getting in and out of there quickly.

We wanted to use John Wayne in Feb but could only get frequent flier flights through LAX. We were prepared for the worst, but it really wasn't that bad. Just a big airport. So don't be afraid of LAX if it's the best fare.
We had a rental car because after Disney we needed to get to Dana Point then San Diego.
