Rent/Buy a Sat Nav

We are coming from the UK and are not brilliantly familiar with the roads in California. We were going to hire a sat nav. but someone told us to go to a supermarket like Target/Wallmart and buying a cheap one would be more cost effective. Can someone tell me the cheapest place to buy a sat nav?

Tnx

Both Walmart or Target would be cheaper. Here is a link to the Walmart GPS.

Walmart.com: Electronics: GPS & Navigation for the Car, Handheld GPS Units & Fitness GPS Units

Here is the Target link:
GPS + Navigation : Electronics : Target

Don't feel too bad about being 'brilliantly familier' with the roads here in California. I've lived here all of my life and I would not go 50 miles without my GPS. It beats stoping to ask directions or to read a map. Hahaha

A lot of the rental car companies have them as an option when you rent the car.
