We live in Denver. When we go to DL, I always stop in Vegas for the night. We can leave the Vegas strip at 8am and be in the park at 12:30pm. It is a quick easy drive, sadly with nothing really exciting to see along the way.
If it is more cost effective the fly to Vegas and spend a night there, go for it. Depending on what night you are in Vegas you can get some really great room deals. We will be there on a Sunday night, in a few weeks and we got a room in the Luxor for under $40!
I live in So Cal and drive to Vegas every now and again for a short Vacation or a friends wedding. Its the place to wed I guess.
The drive is nice and easy, pretty much the 15 all the way. If you drive in the daytime there is plenty to do and could turn that 4 hour drive into an ALL DAY adventure.
If she is close to the Burbank airport, you might get a cheaper flight there but also checkout JohnWayne Airport, which is Orange County's Airport.
Drove many times from Vegas or Pahrump to Anaheim. Not much to add to what has already been posted, but if you are looking for sight seeing along the way, you can stop at Baker. Baker, California - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Look under Appearances in Films and Television for a Disney tidbit. I know the Mad Greek restaurant was in a movie, just can't remember which one.
