| Birthday buttons vs birthday stickers It will probably take me sometime to sit down and do my trip report from our recent trip to DL. However, before I left, I posed a question about celebrating my birthday at DL. There were several responses about getting either a Happy Birthday button or a sticker. I thought I would post what happened in my case. I made my reservations through AAA, but called Disney travel on my own to confirm our res. at the DLH. When I did, I mentioned that I would be celebrating my 40th. The CM said she would make note on my res. So, when we checked in, the front desk actually had a HB button to give me which I wore the following day, on my celebration day. The button said "Happy Birthday from the Disneyland Hotel." Or something like that. When we went to the parks, I would say about 1/2 of the CMs said Happy Birthday to me. And this may have been a fluke or maybe on purpose, but we managed to get the front row of nearly every ride we went on! As we discovered, the front row is the best way to experience most of the rides. We felt very spoiled. Now, I did see many people with HB stickers and asked several people who said they got it from the main gate (both DL and DCA) guest services. Then, that evening, we had PSR for Goofy's Kitchen. Again, when I make the PSR, I mentioned it was for a birthday celebration. In the middle of our meal, Goofy and gang came over to sing HB and gave me a chocolate cupcake with an HB button on the side saying "Happy Birthday from Goofy's Kitchen." So, I ended up with 2 buttons and actually did not go to Guest services to get the stickers. So, that was my experience. I think it can really vary depending on who knows what and what is available. | Re: Birthday buttons vs birthday stickers It sounds as if you did really have a Happy Birthday. When me and my family go in August to WDW, we will be celebrating my DH birthday and I want him to get the button. It'll be his first time in Disney and I just want to make it more memorable for him. And from your experience, it sounds like it's a possibility (although I certainly don't expect everything that happened to you to happen to my DH when we go. As you said, sometimes it just depends upon the CM.) |

| Re: Birthday buttons vs birthday stickers That's very My DD got the sticker when it was her birthday she got special treatment too on the rides. Most every CM also said happy birthday to her. I'm happy your birthday was made just a little more special for you. |

| Re: Birthday buttons vs birthday stickers I just got back from celebrating my b-day. We stayed at the Grand Californian, and I had my room upgraded, which was awesome. I got a birthday button, and I think you get these from either the hotels or the restaurants, but not from the park. I did get a cookie with my hot dog at CA, but other than that, I got very little attention in the parks--not like WDW at all. I could probably count on one hand the number of CMs who said Happy Birthday to me, which I thought they were required to do (one of my CM friends from WDW told me this) when they saw your birthday button. Maybe not at DL? Oh! And I had balloons tied to my door the morning of my birthday, which was also fun. Overall, much more attention at the hotel than the parks. |
