Tipping at Disneyland?

I just found a newspaper article from a few years ago about tours at Disneyland. The author mentions that her guide wouldn't accept tips, although "even though Disneyland years ago had ended its policy of prohibiting tips -- making the Jungle Cruise guides very happy."

Is it true that Disneyland permits tips for tour guides, even on rides? Given how strict Disney World is about this, that sounds odd.

Thanks,
Melissa

Oh gosh, I don't know. I didn't think they were allowed to accept tips either. We took the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour last February. At the end of our tour, I saw another member in our tour group tip the guide. I was surprised when the CM accepted it, and my feelings towards her were kind of tainted after that. (I had to keep telling myself that she was probably turning it in after we all left.) If tipping is allowed, now I feel a little guilty about not tipping her myself! It will be interesting to hear if someone knows for sure.

Wow, I'd also just assumed that they couldn't take tips.

If you offer 3 times, then they are allowed to take tips. Kinda silly, but that is the way it works. I guess it would be rude to keep refusing?

It was my understanding that they were not allowed to accept tips. I did some searching, but no definitive answers yet. I will keep looking...

Re: Tipping at Disneyland?

I have no problem with offering a tip to a tour guide at Disneyland or at any other place for that matter. Nor do I have a problem with the tour guide accepting what I offer, there again whether at Disneyland or any other place. I will say, and this has been a number of years ago, the last time I tried to offer a tip to our tour guide at Disneyland, while he appreciated the offer, he wouldn't take it, because he said he couldn't take it. Things may have changed since then.

That is the same as WDW...But I believe they still have to hand the tip over to the Superior no matter what...(at WDW) they can be fired if a non-tipping position accepts a tip
