Not sure who to contact

I went down to DL for the D23 Expo and a few days in the parks. I had couple of things happen (1 at DL/1 at the Expo) that left me with a bad taste in mouth (so to speak) and seriously wondering if I'll go back. Neither thing was horrible by itself but combined well lets say I was more than ready and quite happy to come home by the end of my trip as I just didn't feel any magic. Who should I contact about this and how?

Well, as to who to contact would totally depend upon what the problem is or what the complaint is. Not knowing this it would be hard for anyone to direct you to what might be the right people. More information would be needed.

Disneyland® Resort
P.O. Box 3232
Anaheim, CA 92803-3232

I would start there, with a letter and if you wanted to send a copy for D-23 I would try sending a copy to:

Bob Iger
Walt Disney Company,
5005 Buena Vista Street,
Burbank, California 91521-0001

Usually letters to Mr. Iger are "screened" and will be given to the proper department to handle. I have used that method once and got a very quick response to discuss my concerns. But I wasn't looking to get anything for my troubles, it was just something I wanted to prevent others from experiencing and it was nice to be able to share my concerns, and have someone honestly listen.

Good luck hopefully the can address your concerns and gain your trust back.

I've talked to DL and used the contact us link at the D23 Expo's website. I'm going to format this in to a business letter and send it to Bob Iger.

I attended the Expo in September and feel the need to comment on the fact that you were confiscating cell phones and cameras and photo id's of the people going in to the D23 Arena. First, I would like to say that I love Disney, am a D23 member, and loved the incredible level of access and amounts of information available at the Expo. Secondly, I completely understand the need to protect copyrighted and/or patented information, materials etc. as my father holds many patents and has successfully taken many companies to court for patent infringement. Having said all of that I must say that I was shocked, appalled, and insulted by the fact that you confiscated cell phones, cameras, and photo id's before allowing anyone to go in to the D23 Arena. The result being that I avoided the D23 Arena after Bob Iger's speech and feel like Disney slapped me across the face and called me a thief. Then as if the confiscation of expensive electronic property and photo id wasn't bad enough you added to it by forcing people to submit to a wand style metal detector scan before finally being allowed in to the D23 Arena. You did this all without any prior warning other than that photography and recording would not be allowed. There are many other events/venues that don't allow photography or recording that enforce it without confiscating their customers private property and photo id's. I can even give two Disney related examples. Disney on Ice and the Cirque du Soleil: La Nuba show at Downtown Disney in Disney World neither of these confiscate the customer's personal property and photo id to prevent photography or recording. They instead rely on ushers and security personnel. In this day and age of identity theft there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I'm going to hand over my photo id to someone who is NOT law enforcement and then walk away from it and I have a hard time believing that Disney not only expected me to do so but made it a condition of seeing the major highlights of an Expo they put together and held. As for the metal detector wanding; I wouldn't have any issue with that if you had done it as people were coming into the Expo and not just as people were entering the D23 Arena. Finally, I quite frankly question the legality of your confiscating personal property and photo id without having any legitimate reason to do so. As much as I love Disney and Disneyland this combined with an incident at the parks' ticket booths with a cast member had me for the first time not only ready to go home at the end of my trip but wanting to go home early. Sadly, the magic has dimmed for me as I've been left with a bad taste in mouth so to speak. I also find myself with little interest or desire to return to Disneyland in the near future. I do however have a trip booked for February 2010 to Disney world in Florida which I'm looking forward to and am hoping will brighten and polish the magic that has been dimmed and tarnished.
Sincerely,
Your disappointed fan
Laura
