I was not sure which board to post this one under, so I picked this one about Sharing the Magic. I was wondering what your most magical moment was while at one of the Disney Properties? Something completely unexpected that was done for you or your family by a Cast Member, or something that happened that made an otherwise average trip stand out in a truly fantastic way.
I will start with a story.
Several years ago my DW and I decided to take our children to California. DW and I were fortunate enough to get a trip through my work a few years before that so we had been to Dinseyland just once. We stayed at the Grand Californian (using our DVC points). But to our surprise, the weather was cooler during the evenings than we had expected, so by our second night the kids wanted to hang around the hotel. That was perfectly fine with DW and I, as we wanted to sit in the hotel lounge for a couple of adult beverages. DW had her first Glo-tini there! OUTSTANDING!
While sitting in the lounge area (but not at the bar) our children came down with a Pirates dice game they had purchased that day. They wanted to play as a family. We asked one of the servers if we could play at one of the tables in the lounge area (others were playing cards), and if it was ok that the children stay. She graciously permitted us to play our game (which we did quietly - I told the kids that if they got loud, we would have to end the game. The kids were very courteous to those around us).
The waitress watched for a little while, as she had not seen the game previosuly. It was a relatively new product from the Pirates of the Carribean movies. Eventually she asked the kids if they wanted anything to eat or drink. They both asked for ice cream. The waitress informed them that the Grand Californian did not have ice cream. The kids were disappointed, but moved on.
A few minutes later the waitress came to the table we were sitting at with two bowls of ice cream. We asked where the ice cream came from, and she said Mickey brought it from the neighboring hotel. Someone had gone to one of the neighboring hotels to get our kids ice cream. When it came time to settle the bill, the ice cream was not on the bill. I took the bill back to her, and asked about the missing ice cream. She told me it was her treat for the kids. I obvioulsy took care of her with a generous gratuity, but this was one of the most magical experiences my family has ever had while at any Disney property.
To this day, my DD mentions this event. It is so memorable for her, and the family. She will remember this for ever.
I know that there are other magical stories out there, so I wanted to see if we could hear some of your experiences.
most of the more magical moments happened with no "Disney CMs or Characters" around... like running across teh magic kingdom during a downpour...
but I was so impressed with the character meal we had at Goofy's Kitchen in Feb. The Characters were so much m ore interactive than the ones at Chef Mickey's (closest I can think of to compare). I even mentioned that fact to goofy and he wrote all over my portion of the table about how Mickey can have WDW but he's taking over the other Disney properties. Who knew Goofy had that in him? He also rocked out to some great tunes with my neice who couldn't stop laughing. Probably the most magical character experience we've ever had... and I've had a few.
We had an experience that was magical and we actually created it for other people, and it seemed so minor when we started.
We were staying at the Boardwalk and we were getting breakfast on the dining plan at the bakery. For some reason you get 2 drinks per person at the bakery, this was fine early in our trip, but we were leaving this day. We also had several unopened bottles of water left in our room. My mom rented an ECV and we loaded up her cart with the extra water and went to get our breakfast. We picked drinks that were basic and sealed (milk, chocolate milk, water etc). We took all the extra drinks and offered them to people on the boardwalk. At first people were tentative, but we explained that we were leaving and had them left over. One family had three kids and we had a chocolate milk, and two regular milks left. I was worried they would all want to chocolate and two of the kids shouted "I love white milk" and the 3rd said "I love chocolate milk". I could believe how excited they were over milk
Who would have thought getting rid of our left overs would be such a fun experience!
Several years ago we were at DCA celebrating by son's birthday and while going into the Muppet theater the CM there wished my son Happy B-day then took him out to the street gathered a group of guests around him in a circle announced that it was his b-day and proceded to lead the group in singing happy b-day to him. He loved it and I just loved how it made his b-day that much more special for him.
Mine would have to be winning a free Disneyland and Disney World vacation from Macy's. My mother entered me in a Mother's Day contest in '09. One mother from each state was chosen and we were sent to Disneyland for 2 days and WDW for 3 days, all expenses paid. It was amazing. Especially the sunrise breakfast in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle. We had to wear sashes and crowns and all of the princesses were there. They even released doves! We had been to WDW 4x before, but never DL. We fell in love with DL and are now planning another trip for this August. I'd rather go in early December, but I can't get time off then. Say we're hoping the last week of August won't be too bad.
Would have been 2005 and I was 3 months pregnant (sick as a dog, but that's another story.) Traveling with hubby and son who was celebrating 11th b-day. We are in WDW at Hollywood Studios. It's hot and I was a wee bit testy. We just missed the cut off for the Studio Backlot Tour. Just as I was about to *itch, the Cast Member sees my son's b-day pin and asks if he wants dad to be in the show. What fun we had watching my husband get soaked in the pre-show! Memories will have forever!

Liar's Dice! Love that game. Got the non-Disney version for Xmas!
AT DL? hmmm, we went once...last fall,it was all pretty magical! Let's see, the warm afternoon we wanted ice cream on Main Street- saw the line to get it was about a million people long,so we wandered just a bit farther and discovered an ice cream window with the SAME ice cream right across Main street! I don't know why, but we remember that quiet spot off the busy street, sitting at tables in the sun and relaxing....
Or at WDW (been many times) it was a COLD spell...I mean no warmer than 50 degrees all week....in the sun....one day we were wandering down Main street USA through the shops,it was chilly in the morning, looking at pins and jewelry- when a CM dressed as some sort of old timey character started calling people over to him to 'trade' pins- he was trading giant,$25.00 pins for our tiny regular ones! we had so much fun,and he wouldn't 'trade' unless we were excited about it,and showed it! I know he was probably sent out there for streetmosphere,as the weather was pretty awful, and folks weren't too peppy.....it was FUN!
