disappointed!

I am so frustrated! I am going to DL May 30th through June 1st to celebrate my 31st birthday. The two things I wanted to do were the Blue Bayou restaurant and the Fantasmic dessert buffet. The restaurant is closed (has been the last two times I've gone!) and Fantasmic isn't even running as DL isn't in the full swing of summer yet.

I know it'll still be a great trip, but I'm still discouraged.

Hopefully, I can at least get to do the tour I want to do!

Re: disappointed!

Brad's got it right sometimes you might get lucky with the fireworks and Fantasmic showing on Sundays but that is usually on a holiday weekend.

Re: disappointed!

I know it still runs on weekends, but I will only be there Tuesday through Thursday, so I won't get to see it. So to me, it might as well not be running at all!

On the plus side, I'm thinking I now have time to take the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour.

Re: disappointed!

Hey Geri!
I know exactly how you feel! The first time I ever went to DL was in 2003, for my 50th birthday. The only place I REALLY wanted to eat was the Blue Bayou. So of course, Pirates was down for rehab, and the BB was closed. At that time I told DH I wanted to go back in 2006 for DL's 50th birthday. I started making plans about a year ago. Even got mu plane tickets last June. We'll be there May 5 -10th, and don't you know it....Pirates is down for rehab, and BB is closed. I do hope to be able to catch all the firework shows and parades, since we'll be there over the week-end, but it just figures, doesn't it? What can you do? Have a good time anyway!!

Re: disappointed!

actually, i'm bummed myself (not yet disappointed), as I just learned that they started running the DEP in the opposite direction in order to discourage the mass exodus of everyone after the parade to go see the fireworks. and i have 1 night to do all 3 things. it's too cost prohibitive to stay another night just for the entertainment.

So, what you do Brad is, get a spot as close to the entrance/exit of DCA as possible and as you see the parade is coming to and end inch your way towards the exit. Or, you could also leave before the ending and beat the majority of the crowd over to DL.

Re: disappointed!

that's the point. that used to work, but they reversed the route now, so by the time the parade ends in sunshine plaza, the fireworks have already started. i've been given a couple of suggestions to try to pull it off, but i think i need to find a map with the parade route just to be sure.
