I have a question about the good neighbor resorts. I was looking at all of them and some of them charge transportation fees and some do not. If we do not stay on property we want to stay as close as possible. We have not been to Disneyland at all. Disney World a couple of times, but never Disneyland. Which good neighbor hotel is close enough to walk to the park from. Like a stroll, not a mile hike. Is there a hotel close, or almost inside the Downtown Disney area? If not, the closest to the Disneyland area. I don't want to pay shuttle cost but the best case would be to be able to step out of our hotel and walk to the park in a relatively short amount of time.
Thanks for all your help,
racreel

Unlike WDW, lodging can be sketchy in DLR. The closest places to stay are motels on Harbor Blvd. You can walk easily from those places. We're a bit picky when it comes to lodging and tend to stay in a hotel with full amenities. This means we find ourselves taking shuttles to and from the resort. The transportation fees are for the ART shuttles that go throughout the resort on various routes. They only charge for 10 years old and older. Anaheim Resort Transit It has been our experience that the rates for the "walking-distance" motels is often higher than the hotels, especially in peak seasons. Many of the local hotels also have free shuttle service, either their own buses or contracted buses. We use shuttles to and from the park and find them convenient. On occasion, we've taken a cab because we didn't plan our return, and it only comes out to about $8 for all of us.
Using the hotel shuttles takes less time than even the buses at WDW!

My wife and I have stayed at the RAMADA INN MAIN GATE. It is just across the street and you can walk to DLR in about 10 minutes, if you hit the traffice light just right. HAHAHA.

We live in San Diego so drive up there. Have no need for the shuttles but if you go the the Disneyland web site Disneyland Resort - Detecting Browser Properties . . .
and then click on 'maps' then click on "Good Neighbor Hotels" (lower right corner) you will see which hotels/motels are within walking distance.
Good luck and by all means, ENJOY YOUR STAY AND HAVE FUN

We stayed at the Caresoul--almost right across the street from the entrance to Disneyland. There are a lot of motels very close and we found no need to take a shuttle except to the airport. Good luck.

Hi Racreel and welcome to the boards!

You might want to go to this post Bret's Disneyland Resort Area Map and click on the link to Bret's Map...it shows all the hotels surrounding DisneyLand. It should give you an idea as to what is available and what is close. Hope this helps!

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Suites, the Crowne Plaza, the Hyatt Regency Orange County, Hilton Anaheim and a short stay at Carousel Inn a few years ago. CI was not horrible, just not for us.

There are many hotels on Harbor within walking distance to the main gate. Best Western Park Place inn, Desert Inn and Suites, Del Sol. AT the cross walk. Closer than staying on property.

I highly recommend the ANABELLA HOTEL (it is a good neighboor hotel) 1030 W Katella Ave - Anaheim, CA, United States 92802
Area Attractions
Disneyland Park - Across The Street
Disney's California Adventure - Across The Street
Downtown Disney - Across The Street
We stayed there and loved it. Literally a block away! and they upgraded us at check in. Have fun...you are in for a treat going to DL
