Only one day to visit, would you do it?

Let me start by saying we are diehard WDW fans, who don't get to go nearly as often as we would like and have never been to DL.

We are going on some college tours in CA end of Feb, I'm thinking since we will be right in the Anaheim area why not visit DL for one day, I'd even be happy with a half day. DH says noway, he couldn't do just one day, so doesn't want to go at all.

I say surprise my daughters with just one day in DL. They've been studying so hard and really stressing out about college, just seems like a logically way to reward their hardwork.

So the question is, do we do the one day or forego the idea all together?

I would go for the day. If it's the only time you'll be out in that area why not take advantage. One day is better than none at all.

You can see quite a bit in one day. You'll have to decide whether it's worth the extra $25 or so for a park hopper ticket, or whether you want to focus on just one of the parks. They are literally across the street (actually, a pedestrian plaza) from each other, so hopping would be quick and easy.

The parks are more compact than the Walt Disney World parks, so they are quicker to walk through (although Disneyland Park can get crowded, especially on weekends, which slows navigation because the pathways are narrower).

I was at a convention in Anaheim a few years ago. In the 6 hours before my plane left on a Saturday night, I got through a large chunk of California Adventure (except the midway rides) and several rides in Disneyland Park. As long as you prioritize in advance what you want to hit, I think you and your family would have a great time.

Happy planning,
Melissa

If you can do it on a weekday, I would definitely go for it. You'll have to prioritize what you most want to see/do but I think its worth it.

When I was a kid, we never went for more than one day. You had one day to do it, and that was it. We never got there any earlier than noon and we always left after the parade. We had fun.

My first "more than one day" trip to DLR was in 2003... up until then, EVERY trip to Disneyland was a one-day trip.

Because you have already experienced some of the rides (for example, Small World), you can focus on the things you haven't seen & are unique to DL:
  • Indiana Jones
  • the longer (and better) version of POTC
  • the better version of Peter Pan's Flight
  • Casey Jr Circus Train/Storyland Canal Boats
  • Matterhorn (ride BOTH sides)
  • Fantasmic! (on the Rivers of America)
  • Roger Rabbit
  • Finding Nemo Subs
  • Tom Sawyer Island Pirate's Lair
  • the better version of Space Mtn
And don't forget the ambience of Disneyland itself, which is just very, very cool.

I wouldn't worry about DCA... spend a good, long day soaking in the place where Walt walked!

Plus - DGD says that the Haunted Mansion is different, and better.

GO! You won't regret the "going', but you might the "not going."

Experience what you can in a day! Since it is a smaller park, it is so easy to see it all. I was in Anaheim at a conference several years ago, and every break I had, I walked on over to the parks. I was surprised that I had could see so much.

Definitely. One day is better than none and Disneyland is a wonderful place to visit. Even a day will give you a good feel of the park and its theming.

Any time at Disney at all is a good idea, I think

Yes, I think if you plan well, arrive at opening time and don't expect to see and do everything, you will have a great time!!

I say just go to Disneyland and skip California Adventure. If you plan well and use the fastpass system, you can get to pretty much everything (except on a very busy day). Have fun!
