Three Days?

If you only had three days and had a 5, 4, and 2 year old. Would you do two DL, and one CA? Would we need more days? I'm trying to figure out a cheap vacation that we could do in a short period of time. Or, I'm I kidding myself, and we won't see a good portion of everything. We were in WDW for a week and didn't get to see everything.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Michael

2 days at DL, 1 at DCA should work out fine. The key is to get into DL at the start of the day. You can do a lot in the first couple hours after park opening. With the age of your kids, you want to head straight to Fantasyland, and do Peter Pan first. The lines for that ride get outrageous quickly. Then do Dumbo, Storybook Land, Alice in Wonderland, and Casey Jr's Train. The other rides in Fantasyland have fairly fast moving lines. But Snow White and Pinocchio may scare the little ones. If you go after January 19, Small World will probably be closed for rehab. Toon Town at DL is fun for the kids. The Pooh ride is waaay over at the other side of the park next to Splash Mtn. But there are also a lot of Pooh character photo opportunities. On your second DL day you should try the Nemo submarine ride first, if you don't catch it the first day.
I'm not sure when you are thinking about going, but Spring Break is an extremely busy time at DL, It can affect your experience negatively.

If you are planning to go during a busy time (ie: spring break, or near a major holiday) it could prove to be problematic, but if you are able to go during the weekdays, you should be fine.

We did Disneyland in 2005 and my dd and ds were just shy of turning 5. We spent two days in DL and 1 in CA. There were a few things that we didn't see, as there's always going to be, but it was just right. I'd love to get back for the same amount of days!

I would agree that would be fine, unless you go at a really busy time. We went at the end of spring break in 2006 and the parks were mobbed. I really wish we'd gone at a quieter time of the year.

We went at the end of Feb., right after President's Day. We did a Thursday, Friday, Saturday. There was NO crowd Thursday, a little more on Friday, and busy on Saturday, but I thought it was still fine. We did wait for a long time for Dumbo, something we would have done during the early entry, but were there with my cousin and her family and they were not joining us the following day. She thought it was extremely busy while we were there, but this was the period of time that CA had rain for days and days with all of the mudslides. She figured it was just people wanting to get out as it was the first sign of nice weather they had had in a long time.

Definitely do-able. But it would depend on the time of year you are planning on going.

I always recommend at least 2 days for DL park and one for DCA.

I think is is also do-able. Since they are all under 54' you will be able to spend all your time in one part of the part. I agree with the person that said go as soon as it opens. The passporter books are correct when they say the parks start to get crowded at 11:30 or noon. It is funny, I ketp referring to the passporter book alot in the parks. They are right on. Get the passporter book, read mousesavers.com and you will be off and running.
Don't forget to make reservations for at least one character breakfast or lunch, and one sit down, it is a really nice break from the parks, and it lets you get refreshed. NO kidding. We have an 8 year old and a 3 year old. The sit down meals are needed, well the character meals at least. I love them. Also if you do a character meal with Mickey, you don't have to stand in those very very long lines to get an autograph. I personally think that is a waist of your money if you are going for a short period of time. I love the rides.

You willbe fine with just 3 days for both parks. I'm planning a trip for May and have decided that's how long we will do the parks too. There is no comparing WDW and DL as far as time. We have spent 22 days over the past two summers at WDW and when we were flying home we were talking about all of the things that we still haven't done. However, the last time we were at DL we only spent 2 days. We love both DL and WDW.

Diddo to what everyone else has said. It is plenty of time to see what you want to see, and to also see several things more than once.

As for the crowds, just plan on Saturdays being the busiest day no matter what time of year. That is the day all the locals go. In fact, you can many times see people there on a Friday night, still in work clothes! They will ride a couple favorites, eat some dinner and call it a date. Sunday mornings are slow getting started, but can end up as busy as Saturday.
