| Disneyland in January 2009 - Help! Help please! DH and I are planning our first trip to DL in January. While we have been to WDW over 40 times over the last 30 years, have taken three Disney cruises and are about to embark on an Adventures by Disney tour to Ireland next month, (we are FL residents and DVC members!), we have NEVER been to DL! That is about to be corrected...we are going for a week, staying at the Grand Californian and would like to experience as much of Disney and So Cal as we can! My questions to you: What is the weather like in Jan? My guess is the crowds will be low, is that true? Do you think there will be a lot of park rehab being done at this time? For a first timer's visit to LA, what are your recommendations of a "must do"? Thank you for your help! Becky ![]() |

| Becky, the DL PassPorter travel guide is an excellent source of information. My PassPorter says that the average temperatures in January range from lows around 45 to highs around 68. We were there in February & the temperatures were pretty comparable to January. I was comfortable wearing jeans, t-shirt and sweatshirt. DH felt the temperatures were a little too cool for him and he had difficulty a couple of nights. The crowds should be great after the folks that were there for New Years leave. Not sure about rehabs, but you can keep up-to-date on that using the Disneyland calendar - just click on any date in the calendar for a run down of park hours, show times, rehabs. I think they keep it updated for 3 months out. As for other attractions in the Southern California area, I would definitely recommend a tour of Los Angeles. We used Starline Tours and took the Hop-On Hop- Off Tour. It cost $25, but if you purchase your ticket near where you get on the bus rather than the booth by Graumann's Theatre, you will save $5 per ticket. There is no need to purchase a ticket in advance. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Rock Walk and the LaBrea Tar Pits & museum. The Disney Soda Fountain is right across the street from Graumann's, if you're looking for a bite to eat. I can also highly recommend a visit to the San Diego Zoo. After the zoo we visited the Corvette Diner in San Diego for dinner. That was a lot of fun! I'm writing about our trip here Jeffrey made me do it, but it’s almost free for our three!! if you're interested in reading about what we did. Hope this helps!! to the boards!!

| Thank you soo much for the info - I have ordered the DL passporter to help plan our trip. The weather sounds perfect for touring and going around the parks. Since we live in Homestead FL, (at the very bottom of the state before you start driving on US1 to the Keys) we actually look forward to a little cool weather, haha! Thanks again for your help! |

| Congratulations on making the "pilgrimage" to the original park! Having the DL Passporter will surely answer a lot of your questions! Important Tip: Bring your umbrella and a clear poncho since you'll be there in January--the rainy season. I was in DL this past January and it rained almost every day. Because 50 degree weather in freezing cold to me and the rain didn't help, having my umbrella and poncho made it actually a lot of fun to be walking in the park! Have the most wonderful time!
