| One day only - all by myself I am heading out to watch my daughter compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Nationals Finals from May 8-11. They are at the LA Equestrian Center, which is in Burbank. I am flying on miles and was only able to get a flight back on the 12th, and it's a red eye, leaving LAX at 11:30 or so. I've decided to go down to Disneyland Sundayafternoon and spend the night in Anaheim and the day at DL. I haven't been to the park since DD was 7 (she now 19). I'm thinking I will just go to DL on Monday. I have thought about California ADventure for Sunday afternoon/evening but thought maybe Downtown Disney would be better. Any suggestions? I am a basic ride wimp when I am on my own although I've done every thing at Disney World but RnRcoaster and Everest. I did TOT once but hated it. Diane |

| I would certainly head into the California Adventure - we loved the theming of the park and it's definitely worth a look around. It's also got some great non-thrill rides, such as Monsters Inc., Turtle Talk (which is a bit different to WDW) and Soarin' for example, but it's the theming that is wonderful here. I like your plan of Disneyland on the Monday - don't miss some of the unique attractions like Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio and Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and it's well worth seeing the Haunted Mansion and Snow White's Scary Adventures as well. Pirates was closed for rehab when we last went, so I can't comment on that.

| I agree that California Adventure is worth seeing. I spent 4 or 5 hours there on a Saturday afternoon after a convention a few years ago and was able to see almost everything I wanted to, with no rides except Soarin' (this was before the Monsters Inc. ride opened). Downtown Disney is fine to look around, but many of the stores are similar to those in upscale malls so I wouldn't spend a large chunk of time there. To maximize your time at Disneyland Park, it would help to look over a map and prioritize your must-sees. Although many of the attractions are very similar to those in the Magic Kingdom, the layout is slightly different. Cheryl gave you a good list of unique attractions. Pirates is more elaborate at Disneyland than in WDW, so I'd add that. I also enjoy the Storybookland Canal Boats and Roger Rabbit's Car-Toon Spin in Toontown (in fact, all of Toontown is wonderfully themed, moreso than the corresponding part of the Magic Kingdom). Have a great trip! Melissa

| Thanks for the input. I looked over the times and am now thinking I will do Sunday afternoon/evening (from 3:00 p.m.) at California Adventure and all day Monday at DL. I plan to spend much of Monday going back o DL and reminising about the rides we did when we took the kids at ages 7, 10, and 12, now 19, 22, and 25) It was before they were thrill seekers and I think could have spent all day on Pirates, Roger Rabbit and Star Tours. I wish my kids could be with me, although after looking at the ticket prices, I may have to do a DL trip rather than DW with a couple of them. Diane |
