Question Need opinions on DL days

DH and I are planning our first trip to DL and I'm a little torn on which days to visit. We arrive in SoCal Friday Sept 5 and leave Friday Sept 12. We want to go to the Dodgers/Diamondbacks game that first night, so I had planned on staying up near Hollywood until Monday the 8th, and getting a hotel near DL for the rest of our stay and doing DL and DCA Sept 9 - 11, Tues, Wed, and Thursday because I had heard to avoid DL on the weekend. Well, I just checked allearsnet and the Haunted Mansion closes for it's Nightmare before Christmas makeover on Sept 8. So here's the question.

Considering we are WDW veterans and have seen the WDW version more times than we can count, is the Haunted Mansion worth changing our plans to Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday? Are Sunday crowds that bad? I hate crowds!

Thanks for any help! I know I'm being weird, but I don't know if we'll ever get back to DL and I don't want to miss something good!

I think it would be a shame if you missed seeing such an iconic DL ride even tho you've been on the WDW version. I may be a little biased since The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite rides. I don't think the Sunday crowds will be that bad when you are going since it is after Labor Day. In fact the parks might clear out early on Sunday since people have to go back to work/school the next day.

P.S. I'm jealous you are going to a D-Backs away game, especially against the Dodgers.

To decide to arrange your plans for HM is, I think, a personal decision. The ride itself is not very different, however the feelings surrounding it might be. Sunday crowds should be larger than Thursday crowds. HOWEVER, most schools are just back in session, so you are dealing with smaller crowds than usual on any day.

It's like we say about going in December - the hours may be shorter, but with less people, the lines are shorter and you get just as many rides, if not more, on those days. So, what I'm trying to say, is that you'll still have a great day. The difference between Sunday and Thursday crowds is probably not too noticeable anyway.

I would stick with your original plan. HM is a little different at DL, mainly during the beginning when you walk to the doom buggies. Tues-Thur are definetely better days of the week to visit. I'd go for smaller crowds over being able to see HM.
