Is 2009 a bad year to visit DLR?

Just wondering what the status is on all the rehabs over at Disney's California Adventure.

My DBF and I have been wanting to go to Cali and I was planning to try and save for a possible DLR vacation next summer.

Is this a bad idea since we've never been and they are revamping DCA?

If you skip 2009 you may also want to skip '10, '11, and maybe even '12, since they'll be making all sorts of changes over this period. Personally, I wouldn't stay away at all. There won't ever be more than a handful of attractions closed at any one time, and you've got that other little park just across the way if DCA isn't enough for you.

I agree with Dave - Disney are usually excellent at keeping as much open as possible at any particular time, so hopefully all their work shouldn't impact too much on any of our vacations.

I can't remember a time when I have visited DLR when there wasn't something down for refurbishment. I would hate to have you postpone; there will be plenty to do. They never have more than a couple attractions down at once, I am sure you will be fine!

They're pretty good at staggering the closings. Definitely give it a shot

Coolbeans!
Thanks for all the great info.

We've never been to DLR but I know at WDW they do the same thing and stagger everything. I think we would be more into the DL side over DCA but we are HUGE Soarin' fans.

Here's hoping for a big tax return! lol!

Also, consider that they try to do less rehab during the summer, which is when you mentioned traveling. So, there's a good chance that you'll be there when fewer things are "down".

I promised myself I would not plan another Disney trip until I pay off my credit cards so if its in my stars NY (or fed) will be sending me a fat tax refund check next spring! LOL!

BTW, thanks for the tip about less rehabs in Summer-- and did DLR not have a Small World right before??

Nope, they have always had IASW, it's just been down for a major refurb.

Well, DLR will have to wait for us until 2010-- we just got engaged and are shooting to get married this summer! So we will be a-honeymoonin somewhere tropical instead of hitting up DLR!

it's closed now, but as far as I know it's still scheduled to reopen at the end of November this year.
