Smile Disneyland and accomodation

We are looking to go to Disneyland around 18 Jan and spend 6 days there and thinking of staying at Howard Johnsons as they say they are right near the main gate, but I have heard that Disneyland sometimes changes the enterances, does anyone know if this is correct and what Howard Johnsons is like there

I have never heard of Disneyland changing entrances, so no worries!

The only reason I can think that this is "out there" is because there was a change to parking when the garage was built and where you enter to park may change (though, we were still able to drive in the normal place and then drive across and into the other parking area). But, the walking entrance and bus dropoff, off of Harbor, hasn't changed.

The Howard Johnson is a couple of short blocks from the main entrance. As everyone else has noted, the main entrance hasn't changed since they built Disney's California Adventure.

There are times when they play "musical chairs" with the parking lots - you can drive into the Timon parking lot and they'll route you all the way around to the Mickey & Friends parking structure. However, this has nothing to do with the "main entrance," and since you'd be at the Howard Johnson's, there's no need to drive (you'd walk as far within the parking lot as you would walk to get to the park from the hotel).

We stayed there last Oct. Nice hotel and very cool water playground they just put in. It is not too far to walk (we had a 4 year old with us and we did use a jogger to get him back and forth). My only caution is that it is up against the freeway if anyone is sensitive to noise. It wasn't too bad from inside the room but you could hear it some.

Dave is so right. We know DL and CA like the backs of our hands and I am here to tell you that the main enterences to both parks have not changed , UNTIL NOW.
The main enterence to DL is the same as always BUT they will be changing the CA enterence when they start working on that part of the part. It is my understanding from talking to several CM's that the CA enterence will be moved several yards to the left, as you are looking at the park. You would enter somewhere near the Muppets theather, that is IF they don't change their minds. We'll be there the 25th and 26th of Oct so we will see what's happening.

Any entrance over by MuppetVision/Monsters, Inc. will be a temporary entrance, while they re-do the main entrance. It's not too likely the permanent entrance would change by more than a few feet more or less in either direction, due to the layout of the rest of the park.

That is correct Dave. According to the information we got, the "temporary" enterence would only be for whatever time it took them to re-work the existing enterence, Sunshine Plaza and I understand the shop "Greetings From California", that is the one on your left as you enter, will be relocated and then move back into a 'new' shop after construction.

And, for those not familiar with the layout, the park entrances are different from the "Main Gate" entrance into the plaza, where everyone crosses the street and walks to the plaza between the 2 parks. The Main Gate isn't changing. The change to DCA is minimal and will not affect the "commute" for pedestrians.

The walk from HoJo's will be the same.

I have not stayed at the Howard Johnson's, I have heard on my mom's loops that it's nice not a lot of thrills and workable into your budget and something about Entertainment Book has a coupon or discount or somthing.

Or you can go through the Grand CA to get in the CA Unless they will be be closing that off. I will be there Oct 20-22 so I will even let you know w-steele when I there and returned. For the main plaza in between the two parks that will never change.
