Just wanted to come here and share my excitement!! I'll be in Disneyland for the first time since I was in 6th grade!!!
Another teacher and I are thinking of taking our students to Disneyland next school year for the YES program and the Magic Music Days programs (we usually go to WDW) ... and I was nervous about planning a trip to somewhere that I wasn't too familiar with...
So........
After we talked it over -- we decided that he and I are going to check it all out in three weeks!!! We have teacher's convention here in NJ ... so we're leaving on November 5th! I cannot wait!!!
Just wanted to come here and share my excitement with you!
Ohh, you are going to have a fabulous time! Take lots of !!
Oh... I definitely will!! I've got to take lots of pics to write up the proposal for the school board ... and I know that I'll want tons for me, too!!!
Have a great time! Is your YES program like the one I know here in Vegas - teaching kids what to expect in the workplace (like, they are their own corporation)?

The Disney YES Program stands for Youth Education Series. There are all sorts of classes in various disciplines. I teach Broadcasting and Theatre to high school students and we would take advantage of their classes in Animation, Performance and Leadership. We also film our local high school morning show live and send it back to air at school. My co-worker is the band teacher and his students would participate in the Magic Music Days, which offers the students the chance to perform in Disney and also take various classes with Disney musicians.
The WDW program is very cool. I've run those trips in 2005 and 2007 ... but to change things up, we're going to investigate the DLR for 2009!
It's been such an amazing experience each time that we've gone... the kids get tons out of it --- and it's tons of fun, too!
That just sounds cool! It's a different program, but then, I wouldn't've wanted to be in the other program (has its purpose, but it aims at educating those who won't go straight on to college). And to be involved in anything that utilizes Disney to teach? Yeah, that's aces in my book!
You'll love DLR - I think you'll find it much easier to keep track of kids here....

I agree --- my room is all Mickey'd out ... and kids know I'm a Disney freak ... I even have a shelf of Passporters for kids to use when they're going away!!!
And ... keeping track of kids is actually my main concern. I know in WDW, at the end of the night, the hotels are pretty secluded. Once the busses stop running, there's nowhere really for them to go outside of the hotel grounds. But in DLR, I'm worried that the city is right there and all they'd need to do is sneak out...
Of course, that's a worst case scenario, and I honestly believe that my kids are GREAT and wouldn't attempt that. But sometimes the teenage brain makes very strange decisions, ya know??
