Question What else can we do?

Okay. I need help here. We are leaving in just 2 weeks and I looked at the DL calendar again. No Fantasmic and No Fireworks while we are there. What else can we do? I have never been to Disneyland with no entertainment before. I am kinda at a loss. We are staying at the Grand so at least that's good. This is our first vacation where we are really able to RELAX. My gram passed away on April 28th and we had been takeing care of her for the past 2 yrs. This is our first worry free vacation and we don't really know what to do with ourselves. I want to make sure that my Mom has a relaxing time but I am worried there won't be enough to do. Any suggestions?

I've got to say that this has thrown me for a loop. I don't consider Fantasmic and Fireworks the only entertainment in the park. The entire park is one big entertainment overload! We go every year and it's been years since I've seen Fantasmic and we only see the fireworks one night, if the kids are still awake. Are you not there over a weekend? I can't imagine DLR not having fireworks on at least Fri/Sat during the summer season.

There is so much more to Disneyland than just 2 things that happen in the evening over the course of maybe 2 hours. That just gives extra time for a few more rides! There are parades to enjoy during the day at both parks, so there will still be entertainment, just not at the same time.

If you are looking to relax, you could plan your evenings a little differently - instead of riding more rides (if that's not relaxing), then eat a late dinner, or head back to your hotel and enjoy the pool/spa, or get a snack and sit back and people watch. You could also head into the Tiki Room around the time Fantasmic would have been showing, for a sit down show in the evening...

There's so much else to do, I wouldn't let this ruin my enjoyment.

I agree with the above. I am looking forward to seeing the Aladin show. While I was sad there is no fantasmic during our trip (there will be fireworks) there is so much more to do. I don't even know if we will get to see everything. I do know on saturday we are RUNNING to the nemo ride 1st thing. lol

Don't worry - there will be plenty to keep you occupied. We've never seen Fantasmic! in our two trips in the last four years either and have only seen the fireworks once (they weren't on last October during our stay) and it didn't detract at all from our visit.

There is so much else. We've still not seen the Aladdin show, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. Have you got a copy of the Disneyland PassPorter? If not, it's definitely worth getting, as that will help you with planning your trip.

Aladdin is a must do! It's such a great show. Take advantage of the shorter wait for Toy Story Mania. One thing I liked about staying at the GC was that I could ride Grizzly Rapids and then walk over to the and change into dry clothes. And if you go at night, when the lines are dying down, you can ride it over and over and get wet and not worry about it. There is a lot of live music in DTD. Get a drink and enjoy the live (and free) entertainment. You could also see a movie.

I forgot about that! One night, DH and I hung out on the pier (DD was asleep in her stroller) and listened to an Eagles cover band. This was back when I was pregnant with DS (5), so it was about 5 1/2 years ago...

Understandable, if they were going to be a highlight of the trip, that you'd feel like something is missing! Glad we could help point out the other stuff! Let us know how your trip was and if you feel like you missed having it or didn't even think about it you were having so much fun...

If Scott Bruse is appearing on the Tomorrowland Stage,,,don't miss him, He does an amazing "young" Elvis impersonation. Disney hires some great talent for this venue even if he isn't appearing.

Have you seen Billy Hill& The Hillbillies recently. Also the Laughing Stock Co. that performs in front of The Golden Horseshoe is a riot.

The Plaza Garden Stage has a Jump, Jive, Boogie Swing Party. Last summer we really enjoyed the All American College Band perform here. (A band made up of select musicians from colleges around the country.)

Check out the schedule for House of Blues in Downtown Disney. This would be an additional cost, but you may find a performer(s) here that you want to see. Don't forget all the free street entertainment in DTD...more great musicians.

Relax in the lobby of the GC listening to the pianist, catch the storyteller, or unwind at the end of the day in the Hearthstone Lounge.

I'm sure you'll find more than enough to do...enjoy!
