Hi!
I am a regular visitor to DL and DCA. If all you want to do is walk around and view the decorations, you can do that in one day. LOL! Realistically, it would take about 3 days to visit both parks when they are busy. If you're there during the week, it probably will not be bad. If you're there on the weekend, local passholders have access to the park and it is much busier. Something to think about.

As for Hollywood tours, I have played tourist in Hollywood and never taken a tour. Places of interest would be:

Universal Studios
Sea World
Legoland (engineered more for youngsters, but nice to say "been there, done that."

I'm sure whatever hotel you're staying at will have tons of brochures of things worth seeing.

Regarding hotels--for years we have stayed at hotels right across the street from the Disney main gate, on Harbor blvd, but for the last several trips we have used Priceline.com. We saved about $100 per night and stayed at much nicer hotels. They want a high premium for the convenience of staying right across the street. While that convenience is nice, all of the hotels offer either a free shuttle that typically runs every 30 minutes, or you can use the ART (Anaheim Regional Transit, I think), that has a ticket vending machine at hotels they serve and I think the cost is $4 pp round-trip.

Hope this helps and that you have a great trip! We're going back right after Christmas to celebrate New Year's there.
