Upgrade to annual pass

We have purchased 3 day park-hoppers for our trip in January, but that was before we found out about our trip in July. I believe that we can upgrade to an annual pass before our days have run out on our park-hopper when we use it in Jan., but what difference in price will we pay? Is is the current park gate price for the 3 day park-hopper, or do I need to take my AAA receipt to show them the actual price I paid, or does Disney somehow know what we paid based on the information contained in the magnetic strip on our pass (amazing what they can contain in those little black strips!)?

I believe you would just pay the difference between what a 3 day PH pass costs (not including discounts) and the Annual Pass price.

I would wait until the last day of your stay to upgrade to your APs because it changes your KTTW card to a paper ticket which can mess up any dining credits still left on the card.

I do believe Disneyland has the same procedure for upgrading regular tickets to APs as WDW. You will pay the difference between a 3 day ticket and an AP, but I am not 100% on whether they do the difference between the discounted price and the AP or if they do the difference between the regular 3-day ticket price and the AP. Be sure to have your receipt with you just in case they ask for it, though.

You won't have to worry about the KTTW card/dining credits issue though as Disneyland does not have the Disney Dining Plan.

It is the value of the ticket or other medium that is subtracted from the price of an AP. Some people wait until the last day so that they get the benefits of their travel package such as early entry.

The first day of an AP is not a block out day. Some people will use the ticket until they are no longer blocked out. Check their site for more information.
