I'd like to ask about which DL attractions are identical to their WDW counterparts and which ones are different. I'll be in Anaheim for a conference at the end of July, and I'll only have a limited amount of time to visit DL. I am a veteran WDW annual passholder so I'm quite familiar with most of the WDW rides and I don't want to waste time riding a ride that is exactly the same as what I ride in Florida. I've heard that POTC is very different (longer and has different scenes), and so is It's a Small World. Can anyone advise me on what I should ride and what I can skip?

POTC is much better at DL. Haunted mansion is different, the stretching room actually stretches as it is an elevator. Small World is much better than WDW's.
Must do's that only DL has. Indiana Jones, Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Toad. Finding Nemo Subs, The Matterhorn. I am sure I am leaving something out.
Carsland at DCA should be open when you will be there.
Hope this helps a bit

Definitely Indiana Jones, Alice in Wonderland, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the Finding Nemo Subs (we're not a fan of the Matterhorn - too jerky for us ) - I'm sure there's something else, but I can't think of anymore right now...
We think Pirates of the Caribbean is better in Disneyland and I'd also make time to do the Haunted Mansion. We did Splash and came off a lot wetter than when we do it at WDW, we also thought it went much faster.
If you have time, definitely check out the California Adventure. For us, must-dos there are the Aladdin show, the Little Mermaid ride, Monsters Inc. and, if you're there for an evening, the World of Color - absolutely amazing show.
The Storybook ride is another one that I don't think has been mentioned yet; very cute!
Interestingly, the Matterhorn is the same track as Space Mountain in WDW - I actually like it better though as the Matterhorn, because since they changed SM in WDW and made it so much darker, it makes me a little queasy since I can't see the track in front of me at all. I like the ride though, so Matterhorn is perfect for me because it's not dark. I do not care for Space Mt at Disneyland at all. It just goes around and around and around in the same direction the WHOLE time. I was bored out of my mind. I also find Dinosaur at WDW to be much more interesting than Indiana Jones at WDW - the tracks are pretty much identical, but I thought the "story" in the IJ ride was kind of lacking. (If you're like my DH though, it could have been the worst ride in history and we'd still have ridden it 3 times because, well, it's IJ. )
My two faves at DL that I would definitely recommend not missing are Mr. Toad's (still sad they took this out of WDW) and Alice in Wonderland.
I'll definitely have 2 days at DL so I plan to spend one in MK and other other at CA. I'm already booking rezzies for World of Color. I think I'm going to choose Ariel's Grotto for the dinner package. Thanks for the list!
I also love Space Mountain at DLR much better than the WDW version!
Space Mountain at WDW is one of the few rollercoasters that I've ridden. I'm not a fan of rollercoasters in the first place and I'm finding my tolerance for such rides is diminishing as I get older. Still, I'll keep it tucked under my hat. Maybe if I have a brave moment, I'll try it out at DL.

I guess it all depends who you are riding IJ with. I walked up and got in the single rider line while DH took DDs on the Aladdin Magic Carpet. I wound up in a car with a bunch of college-aged guys and they cracked me up that entire ride. No, no, they weren't paying any attention to me -- but, just their added commentary and enthusiasm for the ride made all the difference in the world. I came off of the ride knowing I'd probably never ride it again and have so much fun.

In addition to the rides that have been listed above--and Pirates is definitely better at DL than WDW--I would make sure you take the time to do the Storybook Canal Boats or the Casey Junior Train. Both are see the same area, but it's fairly amazing what they've done with miniatures.

This isn't a ride, but I'm looking forward to eating at the Blue Bayou restaurant again. It is in the PotC and is themed for the ride - your table is in the patio and you watch the boats float by before they enter the heart of the ride. I loved that place as a kid.
