DisneyLAND Resort Hotels

OK, I know this is mainly a WDW board, but, we are concidering a trip to the Happiest Place On Earth in a year, and wondered if anyone has stayed at Disneyland Hotel, or one of the new resort hotels Disney offers in Anaheim. Although a trip to WDW is ideal, we poor schmucks who live on the West Coast (such a long trip to my beloved WDW), have to sometimes "settle" for the Original. Any information you all could offer would be most appriciated!

Re: DisneyLAND Resort Hotels

I haven't stayed in any of them, but I've been in all three of them. I must say that by far the Grand Californian is the best themed one so far. I guess you could say that both the Disneyland Hotel and the Paradise Pier Hotel seem more like a "hotel" whereas the GC feels more like I'm at home, in a comfy cabin (a HUGE comfy cabin). Having said that, I just realized that I haven't been inside the Paradise Pier since they changed it from the Pacific to the Paradise Pier. I'll try to duck in there one of these days and give you my two cents.

Hope someone out there can give you more insight into actually staying there!

If you have any other questions about "The Original Park" just feel free to ask!

Re: DisneyLAND Resort Hotels

Thanks for your response, Grand Californian sounds great! I have been to Disneyland 5 times over the years, but the last time was in 1995, so, I am sure things have changed a lot! Anyone else have any info?

Re: DisneyLAND Resort Hotels

We haven't stayed at any of the resorts, but I would agree that it has changed since 1995. We at DL in October of 1999, and it was a lot different! They were remodeling the pool area of the resorts, and of course a lot of the parking lot was being used for DCA.

You might try the Family.com website and post this question. Here is the link for the Disneyland board. http://boards.family.go.com/cgi/fami...oom=Disneyland

Re: DisneyLAND Resort Hotels

I have stayed at the Disneyland hotel two or three times (only once as an adult and that was at a convention) and it was great! It is almost it's own mini-theme park. It has a lake, a water show, and lots of great landscaping. I would stay there again if the prices were reasonable.

Last year we stayed at the Paradise Pier on a special locals package. CA adventure was not yet open, but our room overlooked it. It was a nice hotel, but I agree with the previous comment--it is just a hotel. Between the two I would definitely choose the Disneyland Hotel.

If any readers make it to Disneyland let me know--we just live in San Diego. We should have a Disney West Gathering!

Re: DisneyLAND Resort Hotels

Hey, castlecat, I'm in Tustin! I'll be at that meet! Just set one up!

As for the Disneyland Hotel, keep in mind that the pool is a lot smaller, and other things may have changed since you were there. With all the Downtown Disney construction, lots of things have been moved around, disappeared, and made smaller (like the pool!). However, I'd have to say that it does have its share of Disney magic. But boy, for my tastes, the Grand Californian just feels so comfy...and I've only walked through the lobby and some of the grounds!
