| Re: Disney Mishap Blamed on Poor Maintenance [ QUOTE ]
I am thinking it is a very good possiblity that we may never see Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland again.

I don't think that will happen. It might be a good long time before it re-opens. The budget to tear this down or to just not operate it will eventually start to hurt them.
I'm not at all surprised it was a maintenance issue. I've been saying that since I first heard about the accident. The good news is that Cynthia Harriss, the former president of DLR and the woman responsible for the hack and slash to the maintenance department, has been "canned" (she claimed she was leaving to spend more time with her family...yeah right) Her replacement, Matt Ouimet who came over from the DCL, is already starting to make some very positive changes and hopefully he can sort out the maintenance problems (to few staff and to small a budget...these guys used to be responsible for only one park now they are looking after 2 and there are fewer people now than when there was only one park...there is not 2 separate depts for maintenance) and BTMRR will hopefully open soon and be better than ever! |
