Disney Mishap Blamed on Poor Maintenance

I found this artical that said Disney was to blame!
[ QUOTE ]
A roller coaster accident at Disneyland that killed a rider was the result of improper maintenance and operators who weren't told to take action if a ride made unusual noises, state investigators said Wednesday.

Re: Disney Mishap Blamed on Poor Maintenance

I am thinking it is a very good possiblity that we may never see Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland again.
Although the article makes it sound like it will re-open. When someone was killed at the Carousel of Progress it closed and never re-opened. It took them over 10 years to do something with that location.

I am so sorry this happened, but I am glad they found the cause.

I don't think that will happen. It might be a good long time before it re-opens. The budget to tear this down or to just not operate it will eventually start to hurt them.
I'm not at all surprised it was a maintenance issue. I've been saying that since I first heard about the accident. The good news is that Cynthia Harriss, the former president of DLR and the woman responsible for the hack and slash to the maintenance department, has been "canned" (she claimed she was leaving to spend more time with her family...yeah right) Her replacement, Matt Ouimet who came over from the DCL, is already starting to make some very positive changes and hopefully he can sort out the maintenance problems (to few staff and to small a budget...these guys used to be responsible for only one park now they are looking after 2 and there are fewer people now than when there was only one park...there is not 2 separate depts for maintenance) and BTMRR will hopefully open soon and be better than ever!
