Taxi to motel?

Guess what? I'm going to DL! We always drive, but this time I decided to fly, and we're flying into Orange County. Has anyone taken a cab from the airport to DL? I know it's not far because I've driven it, but how much does it cost? Would it be a better deal to take SuperShuttle?

Re: Taxi to motel?

I have seen huge air port/Disneyland shuttles that have the Castle with fireworks painted in the background (you can't miss them). However, I don't know if they are owned by the Disneyland Resort, or if they are free...

Re: Taxi to motel?

In general, the shuttles are cheaper for one or two people, and taxis are at least close to cost-competitive for three or more (because you're not paying per-person). While the drive time from John Wayne isn't too bad, it's distance that counts in a taxi, and those dollars click over very quickly at freeway speeds.

Re: Taxi to motel?

Thanks Kid and Dave--I've done some more research, and the buses are about the same price as the shuttle $10 per person, the shuttle runs on demand, the bus has a schedule that doesn't work well with our flight times, so I'm going to probably go with a taxi--the airport had a phone number for the taxi company and they will even give you a flat rate to the resort area-so I will call tomorrow and investigate--I also checked into car rental, but it's still over $100 and it would just sit there all week which seems like a waste. There is also towncar service, it'd be about $130 round trip! Eeek!

Re: Taxi to motel?

Where in Nevada are you flying out of. If you don't mind me asking did you get a good airfare. I would like to fly down on my next trip to. I would fly out of Reno and fly into John Wayne airport.

Re: Taxi to motel?

We're flying out of Reno on Aloha Airlines. It was the only non-stop to John Wayne. I bought the airfare as part of a vacation package because there wasn't any airfare available for the week we wanted to go unless we flew to Seattle and then to OC! Needless to say, that took much more time than driving! It was about $150 roundtrip per person, but we're going over spring break, so I don't know if the prices are higher then or not. I do know that the price nearly doubled overnight one night while I was trying to decide!
