Tropicana Inn Spent Saturday night at the Tropicana Inn and will not be staying there again. Dropped off my luggage and went to the parks. First mistake. When I came back to the room I noticed it smelled. I thought it was from the rehab it had just gone through. The night was rough as my asthma kicked in and meds were not helping. I figured that it was from the glue or new carpet and that my allergies were kicking in. Not much sleep was had that night. Sunday morning I checked with the front desk about the room and found out that I was put in a smoking room with no ashtrays(?). No wonder I was sick. The front desk confirmed my reservation said NON smoking because of asthma. They even said someone screwed up. This morning the hostile GM for the hotel called me to inform me I was reassigned a smoking room because the hotel staff saw me smoking outside the lobby and that I smelled of smoke. I had just arrived from Carlsbad, from my non smoking home, in my non smoking car and I smelled of cigarettes? I guess I need to change deodorant.  She argued with me that I smoke and that I was lying about it and continued to do so for 5 minutes. My boss was shocked at how I had to defend myself over “my smoking”. His first comment was, “do they understand customer service?” I even said I would be happy to put people on the phone that would attest to me being a NON smoker. My asthma really kicks in around smoke. She offered to comp me a room for one night, they pick the date. I said I was not looking for a comp room I wanted to know how I was booked into a smoking room when I requested a non smoking room. Her response, “We booked you into the room because you smoke”. At that point I said thank you very much I will not be staying at your place again. So much for being a Good Neighbor Hotel. Lesson learned, check the room very carefully before accepting. Also, I will try and only book places I have stay in before. judimouse

Re: Tropicana Inn I called one of their other hotels for the corp number and guess what, this Ann person, who called, is the GM for the company. Yikes. I love the Carrousel Inn. judimouse

Re: Tropicana Inn You might want to write to Disney Travel Company (they do both DL and WDW packages) or to Disneyland itself. ![]() The Tropicana is one of their "Good Neighbor" hotels and I think they would like to know about a "lousy neighbor" hotel. ![]()

Re: Tropicana Inn I found this post interesting--we just stayed there 2 weeks ago, and had a great room that was obviously newly refurbished. When I booked the room and requested a non-smoking room I was told that the entire property is non-smoking, so no worries. That was one of the reasons we chose this hotel over our usual. We were really happy with our stay, except for the continental breakfast. The danish were moldy and milk was a pay-extra for item. We just didn't go a second time. For less than $70 a night during spring break, I wasn't going to complain about that. In fact, I found the staff to be very courteous, and our room was even ready when we checked in at 9:30 in the morning. Ya know, now that I think about it, we even had a brochure on the desk in the room about the hotel being non-smoking. Very interesting...perhaps you have an evil smoking body double--but even so, why would they argue with you? That just doesn't make sense! Sorry you had such an experience.

Re: Tropicana Inn I did some checking and everything I found on this hotel mentions that they offer Non Smoking Rooms. I would imagine that this means they have both smoking and non smoking. Sorry you had such a bad experience there!

Disney\'s Response to my Tropicana Inn stay Dear Travel Partner, Thank you for your interest in the Disneyland(R) Resort in Anaheim, California. We apologize, because you did not book a Walt Disney Travel package, we are not able to follow up on this matter. It will be best to contact the Tropicana Inn and Suites to voice your concerns. Have a Magical Day, Cristina Walt Disney Travel Company, Inc. E-Commerce Desk All I can say is they did not even bother to read what I wrote. :-( Had they read they would have known I had already contacted the hotel. judimouse

Re: Disney\'s Response to my Tropicana Inn stay That stinks, Judi. I'm sorry. I was going to recommend getting their corp address, too, but I guess you already talked to the higher-ups ( ) That's ridiculous. I guess they couldn't think of any reason why they made a mistake so they were just going to pin it on you.
