| Re: New attractions for California Adventure! Wow! I'm excited I'll get to see Turtle Talk with Crush next year as we saw it at Epcot and it was amazing.
Is there a summary or more info on the Monsters Inc. attraction anywhere? |

| Re: New attractions for California Adventure! We at DisneyForever have talked with our Imaginear sources and from one idea we have heard is that your in Mike's red car, "zooming" through Monstropolis looking for Boo (who has escaped). |

| Re: New attractions for California Adventure! cool! I would imagine since it is set to open in just 7 or so short months, this is more of a "dark ride" than a thrill attraction? |

| Re: New attractions for California Adventure! Yes, that's exactly right. So far they have already moved all of the Super Star Limo stuff out and the outside of the building is almost done being painted. |

| Re: New attractions for California Adventure! I've seen some other stuff too. This is what I posted on another board back in January:
I read yesterday on a couple sites that DL is going to get a Monsters, Inc. ride. Also, possible two rides based on Toy Story and one on Incredibles. The submarine ride is suppose to get changed to a Nemo theme (it's about time they do something there). Also, they bought more property to do another park! They said for now that they're going to focus on CA adventure, so it will be a while before we see that third park. But at least one is coming!!! Man I hope these are all true. They could really use some more stuff down there. I forgot to add that there's talk about redoing the Autopia ride to reflect the new movie, Cars.
Anyway, who knows what is or isn't true, but nobody can deny they need some new stuff, especially at DCA. And they apparently have a lot of room still at DCA. |

| Re: New attractions for California Adventure! Jennifer was at the briefing session regarding the latest attractions (I was off doing some one-on-one interviews - watch our newsletter for the low-down). With all we've had to do, I've barely heard the details from her. Here's what I know:
Turtle Talk with Crush is going into the movie theater in Animation. That suggests the audience will be a bit larger at DL than it is at Living Seas.
The Monsters, Inc. ride replaces the long-closed dark ride, Superstar Limo - it'll be a dark ride, too. They just put up some great looking construction fencing outside Superstar Limo - it's worth a visit, even if there's little else happening in that corner of the park at the moment. From what I've heard, the scene where Mike and Sulley chase after Boo's door (all those doors hanging from conveyors, going every which way) is going to be a part of the new attraction. If they can pull that off, it will be very neat indeed!
Just earlier today we took the monorail just so we could peer down into the sub lagoon. As of now it's dry as a bone and it looks like they're beginning to replace various electrical lines. No hint (yet) from the construction work as to whether it will really be a Finding Nemo-based re-dress, but even a Vulcan would find such a change "logical." I heard from one cast source that Disney originally planned to make the formal announcement of the new attraction on 05/05/05, but decided to hold something back to announce on the real anniversary date - 07/17/05. |

Actually Dave, on the wall surrounding the lagoon there are signs that say "Imaginears At Play" and in the background there a picture of the sea from Finding Nemo (not exactly sure what scene it's from, but it is definitely Pixarish and I would bet money it's from Nemo). |

You do have a point there! Silly me, I just thought the scene had a contemporary style! That's what happens when you're rushing around like I was. |

Were you running around all day trying to get the book done or were you just doing normal stuff? |

If you're Jennifer or me, "trying to get the book done" is normal stuff. This was very much a working trip from beginning to end. We arrived Tuesday, and the only really free time we had was Saturday night. I had three things on my personal "I want to do this, just because" list, and only did one - ride one of the mountains (Matterhorn, as the queue wasn't too long). I didn't get to do Soaring or Disney Gallery.
Yeah, we just suffered through Dreams, Jungle Cruise, the Tiki Room, Buzz, Fantasmic... but for the most part, we were not doing attractions or shows. Unless they were new or rehabbed, we didn't do them. We were there to update our existing research, learn as much as we could about the Happiest Homecoming, experience whatever was new, and take lots of photos for the book.
I can't deny that Jennifer and I are very lucky to be able to do the work we do. If we can't have fun riding the rides, watching the shows or dining in the restaurants, how can we be sure anyone else will enjoy it? But it's hardly a carefree vacation. While most folks in "commando mode" are trying to cram in the most fun they can get, we're in "commando" because everything on our list must get done for the good of our books (and our readers). It was a very successful trip, because we didn't miss anything essential. If it was a vacation, boy, would we do things differently! |
