| Re: Two go wild and go west! THREAD 4 - UPDATED 6/4! Friday 21 April – part four: where’s the castle? As soon as you enter the park, you can see the differences to Walt Disney World. The whole place feels more intimate and closer together and there are differences in some of the buildings along Main Street. The real shock to us was the castle. When we first looked down Main Street, I honestly wondered where the castle was, I really couldn’t see it to begin with. Where’s the castle? I’m guessing they learnt a lot from here about forced perspective and applied it to all the other castles in the other Disney parks. A nice touch was the gold models of some of the Disney characters, including Dumbo and I know that this was a photo that my parents took of me on our 1987 trip, so we made sure to get another one 20 years on: Mark wanted a shot with Chip and Dale: Of course there was also the Partners statue: The view to Tomorrowland Looking towards Adventureland We walked to the right side of the castle and saw Snow White’s wishing fountain. The two Grumpy guys together! Then we walked into Fantasyland. Not only was this small, but it was also mobbed. You could barely move in here. I knew immediately that we weren’t going to be doing any rides in here. The only one that was empty was Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride and that was because it was down. We decided to try and find somewhere quiet and headed towards Frontierland, finding the petting zoo complete with cow. She was cute, but she didn’t look happy, mind you she was in a tiny paddock with little room to move. Next: finally how long is that wait for Winnie? | Re: Two go wild and go west! THREAD 4 - UPDATED 6/4! Let me start off by saying what a wonderful TR writer you are!!! I just caught up with your TR from the last day in SD and really enjoyed your comments on the sights. My first impression of the castle last summer was also that it looked so small. They really did a beautiful job on repainting it but I wish they reopend the interior of the castle so that you could walk through the story of Sleeping Beauty! We did that back in 1992 and thought it was so adorable. Can't wait to hear what you thought of California Adventure. Thanks for sharing such a detailed TR.
