We love the Grand Californian - it feels like home. I wish we had some spare cash, so we could buy a few DVC points there.

Also, I enjoy getting a look at other things to do in Southern California.
Oh good! We hesitated to post this report because we ended up doing so little at Disneyland. Not staying on-property allowed us to do that more. When we stay on-site we feel like we shouldn't wander too far from the parks because we're paying for that access to them. And we get so caught up in all things Disney because everything is right there. So the downside to staying off-site was not having that access but the upside was that we felt more free to do other things and to take time to just relax.

Sounds like a good morning at Disneyland. Reading about your time there has me itching to go back. I'm thinking I need to take another trip there next summer. And I must be hungry, because I was almost drooling reading about that flatbread!

LOL! Come on out! Can you use your DVC points at the GC? Woo hoo!

Thanks all for allowing me to relive the trip. Now time for a quick wrap-up.

It's tempting to leave you all enjoying the Flatbread and the wine at the Hearthstone Lounge - that's where I'd like to be right now - but it's time to wrap up this report.

After salivating over the GC pool, we had planned to jump in the Hilton pool but it just wasn't doing it for us. The Hilton is huge and full of conventioneers and the idea of tromping all over this resort wearing our swimsuits in the slowest elevators in the world (we'd see more of the elevators than the pool), well, we kinda lost interest in that activity.

Instead, we opted for an in-room nap - this room was almost too comfortable because it was so easy to be lazy. In fact, the rest of the day is a bit of a blur. But I seem to recall that by the time we woke up, it was time for the Angels game. We ordered in room service dinner - again - this was getting to be a habit. We shared an order of pasta and caesar salad and 2 more glasses of that yummy Merlot we had the first night. Did we really have more wine for dinner after having some with lunch? Yes, I think we did. Why do I hear Bob & Larry applauding? It may not be a Frosty Beverage, but Princess Sharon would probably approve, too.

More Disneyland fireworks from our room. This was starting to feel like deja vu for us - we lived 2 miles from the MK at WDW and the nightly fireworks sounded like gunfire and I now have tinnitus because of that - what a souvenir.

Anyway, we did a quick pack before calling it a night, got another good night's sleep on the Serenity bed, and the next morning we ordered room service breakfast. Yep, this is definitely getting to be a habit. I think we split an omelet of some kind and enjoyed a nice pot of coffee before heading down to the car. The bellman was a friendly guy from Portland - we exchanged stories about having lived there, too.

The drive home was uneventful. The kitties were happily awaiting our arrival and our fabulous pet sitter left notes with details of how our kids were doing while we were away.

This was a different sort of trip and it gave us a lot to think about. But as long as we're coming in from out-of-town, we plan to stay onsite, even if all we can afford is Paradise Pier. We learned the hard way that the access to all the Disneyland Resort has to offer is worth it - even if you can find a nicer room for less money not that far away. And if we do move back to the area, we're going to have to learn how to work the Downtown Disney parking as much as we can.

Because we hope we'll never have to enter Disneyland's Haunted Parking Garage again.

Thanks for reading and commenting, everybody! Hope to see y'all real soon.
