Best Beach to just play in the sand and surf?

What, in your opinion, is the Best Beach near Disneyland for not necessarily the sights, but just for a 6 year old to play in the surf and sand for her first time?

We liked Newport Beach. It was clean, close (maybe 15 min.), and my kids had a ball there. The front desk at our hotel gave easy directions, and it was perfect for a little play in the sand and get your feet wet.

we enjoyed huntington beach, DD loved playing in the surf and watching the surfing. It is quite a haul to get to the beach after parking though. I have heard good things about laguna beach also and the tide pools there.
