I have not seen in in LA but dearly love the play!!! Do you know the story? I just love the songs in it. Its a re telling of The Wizard Of Oz as seen through the witches point of view. You can go on YouTube and type in Wicked and watch a few of the songs. I hope you go.

it actually takes place/concurrent to the wizard of oz (movie). it doesn't re-tell it as opposed to showing another side to the story. it's pretty blatant in its message in how elphaba (her name was created by wicked's author and comes from the wizard of oz's creator L Frank Baum's initials) is treated as an outcast and gets her rep just because of her skin color. but i digress and probably say too much.

it's an amazing book (can't say that for all of maguire's work though and the sequel is horrible). the musical itself (i used to work in the entertainment arena, there are people who get offended when you interchangeably use the words musical and play) is really good, some of the best music/lyrics i've ever personally heard outside of howard ashman's work.

i was actually thinking about getting tickets to see it in LA. i saw it with the original cast on broadway (idina menzel and kristin chenowith). i don't think anyone can touch chenowith in that part, but i have seen eden and megan perform in broadway on broadway performances..

this is eden with kate reinders in 2006

megan hilty with shoshana bean in 2005

but i digress.

anyway, in LA, you can get 20% off if you go on Tuesdays and use the code METRO (you are supposed to have a metro card you can show). they also have a lottery to win one of 13 pairs of front row orchestra seats before every performance for $50 for the pair
