Smile So. Cal. Trip End of March/begin April-LA, San Diego, Disneyland

My Family, self, dh, dd (13) and ds (5) are doing a trip in So. Cal at the end of March, beginning of April....for 10 days/9nights-3 nights in LA, 3 in San Diego and 3 at Disneyland....

We've been to California twice before-once to San Fran (loved) down the coast-Monterey, Big Sur, Santa Barbara and Disney Land. The second trip began in SF and we camped near Half Moon Bay (nice lodge camping-lol at a place called Costonoa and went to Santa Cruz.) This time we thought it time to see the southern part of the state.

The things dh and I really enjoyed about California was the natural beauty, the food-we're foodies, and a certain laid naturalness-yet a simultaneous sophistication (if that makes sense). We also do love cities-being right outside Philadelphia and a 90 minute ride from New York.

I'm not going to LA to star search-although I love the history of Hollywood-we will see Grauman's, maybe the Egyptian, and definately try to catch a movie at El Capitan with the kids...(and check out the Disney Ice Cream Parlor next door-trading pins anyone??? We are going to Griffith (sp?) Park to the Autrey Western Museum and the Observatory. I've also read that Silver Lake and Los Feliz have fun shops and restaurants. Another day we're going to "do" one of the Getty Museum and Santa Monica/Venice. We have no desire to do Rodeo Drive or Univeral Walk. My little guy is too little for the studio tours.

While in San Diego -we want to go to the San Deigo Wild Park and La Jolla-but I'm still looking for ideas...

And Disneyland-well that it the icing on the cake-we're staying at the Grand Californian for three glorious nights...hoping to spend 2 days in Disney Land and 1 day in California Adventure.

If anyone can make any itinerary suggestions I would appreciate it.....

Patricia

What great plans you've got!

In San Diego, I can thoroughly recommend a harbour cruise - we really enjoyed seeing the city from the water. We also loved USS Midway, it's an amazing place to visit. Something else I can thoroughly recommend is the Zoo. I know you've got the Wild Animal Park down (which we didn't have time for), but we loved the zoo.

Hope that helps.

There is also Sea World and Balboa Park with the museums. Do no think about going south of the border unless you have a Passport however

Talking Thanks....

Thanks Cheryl-we're going to definately go out on the water...and take a cruise...
w. stelle-Balboa Park -from what I've read sounds awesome-definately want to see it and check out a couple of the attractions...I know the Zoo is there and the Museum of Man sounds cool-anything else you'd recomment? (And we do have passports but we aren't crossing the border this time-that's a whole different trip...)

I just returned from a trip to San Diego - sounds like you have gotten some good suggestions here. Definitely visit La Jolla - it is beautiful!
