Downtown Disney or the new Garden area (can't think of the name of it). Most of the rest of the 2 miles surrounding DLR is hotels and food.

These are a little more than 2 miles, but not more than a 10 minute car ride: Knott's Berry Farm has shopping and a "quaint" chicken dinner restaurant (Mrs. Knott's) that you don't have to enter the park to access. There is a Pirate dinner show (I think it's where Medieval Times used to be) down the street from Knott's. There used to also be a wax museum right there.

And if you're in the mood for shopping, there's a Disney's Character Warehouse store about 5 or so miles away from the Park, at Harbor and Orangethorpe, if I recall correctly. That would be a fun (but potentially expensive) side trip! It's amazing how quickly those $5 bargains add up when you know they're marked down a good 30-70% off retail!

Yahoo search tells me it's Knott's Berry Farm - America's 1st Theme Park! (knotts.com), which takes me to a general page, rather than event specific. Keep in mind that they may not have info on July up yet...

Well, either way. Hopefully they have an Angels game at the time. You can go to that.

Nothing like breakfast at Mrs. Knotts Chicken Dinner Restaurant at Knotts Berry Farm - will probably hold you until dinner.
