| must-sees ? It looks like DH will have a business conference in CA in Feb, and DD9 and I may go with to make it a family vacation. The meeting is at the Marriott in Dana Point. I think it's Tues-Thurs, so we'll have the weekend on either end for family things. We'll be pulling DD out of school, so I want to be sure to balance some education in with hanging out at the beach. Our thoughts are one weekend at DL/DCA. The other weekend in San Diego, doing the Zoo and Sea World. Once we firm up the meeting schedule and flights, we can probably add one day at one end. Should we do the extra day in Anaheim or San Diego? Seeing what? In between, DD and I will probably pick up a whale cruise from the hotel, and head to the mission at San Juan Capistrano. We're big history buffs, so are considering the Nixon Presidential site. Are we missing anything major? What are the must-see sites in the area?

| I would go for the extra day at Disneyland, as it's worth spending three days there. My recommendation would be to take a tour of Los Angeles. We did a great one a couple of years ago with Starline Tours that took in all the main sights, including Beverly Hills, the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood Bowl, Farmers' Market etc. It was a great way to see the city. ![]()

| While in San Diego, check out their Wild Animal Park. It's similar to the safari in AK but HUGE! We liked it so much better then the San Diego Zoo. There are however tons of museums in the area right around the zoo so it might be more time effecient to do it that way. Also, there's an area called Old Town in San Diego, right by the Marine Corps recruiting depot. There is a trolley tour that leaves from there that is a great way to see the city. Whenever we had family out to visit for the first time we always took them on that tour because it gave such a great overview. There are several stops on the tour and you can get off and spend as much time as you'd like and pick up the next trolley when it comes by.

| Would Calif. early day history be of interest to you? Knotts Berry Farm has a lot of history within the park plus rides and more. Independence Hall is there too with displays.
