| We will be in San Diego in January for a conference for my DH. We plan to head up to Anaheim for a few days, and we will be in San Diego for 3 days. What are the MUST see's for us. We are a couple in our 30's without children. DH is a History Buff, I love to shop, and we are both foodies (but I am a vegetarian). Any thoughts? Thanks so much for any insight. |

| Wow lets see. THE ZOO!! You must see The Hotel Coronado is fantastic. I love most of Balboa Park. There are some other animal parks with a short drive. I am not gonna recommend you cross the border!!! Tijuana is way too wild for my taste anymore!!!

| When we spent a couple of days in San Diego, we spent much of one day at the zoo. We stayed at the Coronado through our DVC points and it's definitely worth a visit. We also enjoyed the Old Town State Historic Park, the Midway Aircraft Museum, Seaport Village and we drove through the Gaslamp Quarter. We walked round some of Balboa Park, seeing the architecture, but didn't really have time to visit anything, other than the zoo there.

| As a couple of San Diegans here is what we'd recommend. In the downtown area, Horton Plaze, The Gas Lamp area, Sea Port Village, the aircraft carrier Midway, the Star of India (which is the worlds oldest, active sailing ship) Balboa Park with all of the museums, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Belmont Park in Pacific Beach, about 35 miles north, along I-5, is Legoland (could be fun for grown-ups) and about 40 miles north, along I-15 is the San Diego Wild Animal Park, over on Coronado Island is the world famous Hotel Del (which looks a lot like the Grand Floridian at WDW but is about 100+ years older). We have everal Indian Casinos east of town but not sure if you want to travel that far. STAY AWAY FROM MEXICO. NOT SAFE! Besides to return to the 'states' you would need a passport. There are several vegetarian restaurants in the area, in fact, here is a link to one of our most popular restaurant locators. | We just got back from Ca and stayed in San Diego for 5 nights. Whilst we were there we did a tour called Haunted California Ghost Tours which left from the Best Western Hacienda at the Gaslamp District. This was the funniest thing ever, you board a 'haunted ghost bus' whilst they play the ghostbuster theme tune and they take you around the area , you get off the bus at various points like downtown, a haunted house, the montezuma house and the whaley house and graveyard. They were the funniest most genuine people we met, took our 11 year old son with us who loved it, and although they admit the information and tour is more for entertainment was one of the highlights of our trip. I would recommend it to anyone |

| We have spent a lot of time in Balboa park. It has the Zoo of course and like 15 museums. We consider ourselves foodies and we LOVE the restaurant that is in the park called the Prado. My two DBILs are "veggie heads" too and they always find yummy things there. There is also a really cool artisan area where they have a bunch of studios making and selling paintings, jewelry, photos, blown glass, etc. I love the whole park and would guess you both would enjoy it. Here is a link to the Prado ![]() The Prado | Cohn Restaurant Group
