I am trying to find info about Delta baggage fee's but its very confusing. One place it says first bag is free then 50.00 for second bag, another place it says there's a charge for the first bag. Anyone fly latley and knows. We are flying delta. I have to take a car seat(booster) and want to take a stroller depending on the charge for that. The car seat fits in our big suit case but takes up room for other things. Just wondeirng if anyone knows.
Delta, like most airlines considers a car seat and/or stroller "a special carry on". They will gate check them for you and they do not count toward your carryon. (Baggage Allowances on Flights)
If you are a US traveler the fees are:
First checked bag: $23 USD if checked in online or $25 USD at the airport kiosk, ticket counter or curbside
Second checked bag: $32 USD online or $35 USD at the airport
It must be 50lbs or less.
There are a few exceptions to the fees (Top frequent flyer class, full Y fare, etc.)
The free first bag/$50 second bag is if you are flying between Europe and either Canada or the US. Flying between Canada and the US is suddenly considered domestic (it used to be considered international so the baggage weights were affected), and flights within both countries are obviously domestic, so the domestic fees that Sandy posted apply.
Those fees are getting so silly. DH & myself have a flight booked for $102 each. We need 4 suitcases. So our luggage is flying for $110. More than the price of a ticket for a human being!!!
I am not sure which I would prefer--low fares and high baggage fees or high fares and no fees...In many ways, I like the thought that baggage is an expense within my control. We got tickets from MN to MCO in Aug for $167 (on Delta) each for 5 people. We will be checking (if I pack as planned) 3 bags. Our last trip before baggage fees I recall the airfare being in the $400 range. I think we are definitely getting a better deal paying for the bags!
yikes we are going in June and I think ours is $20 per bag on Delta. I don't know if it matters when you booked or not?
Baggage fees do go up by they honor them from your booking time.

I always laugh when I see the episode of Friends and Joey wears about 8 outfits one on top of each other. I keep thinking, hmmm, would I fit in my seat that way?
Be careful about the 50#. Airport scales weight much differently than yours or mine. We weighed ours @ hotel and was 5# under. Weighed at MCO and they were 2# over. They were going to charge us for the overage.
I hate these baggage fees. I usually fly SW (where my bags fly free), but unfortunately couldn't get the times/dates I needed, so I'm flying American, which charges for bags. $25 for the first bag. I'm hoping to take one suitcase and one carryon suitcase because its just me and my daughter.
I actually wondered about shipping a large box with clothes in it to the hotel and then shipping it back in the middle of vacation and just taking the one carryon bag. After all, the USPS has that box that "if it fits, it ships." LOL!
I think once you pay to ship there & back you would have spent that $25.00 bag fee..
My DH & I share 1 big suitcase then carry 2 small ones.. Just one bag fee that way..

Actually, it would be $50 because of each way and I know I can ship a box for less than that. But then you take the chance that the box won't arrive. I haven't decided yet. I'll just have to see what it looks like when I'm packing. I just hate the idea of paying for my bags.

Better not tell you the horror story of the box that was shipped to a WDW
resort for me that never arrived, only to show up 2 months later after it traveled around the country
