Off-site hotels: which would u pick? We are planning a trip to DL in late August. We are trying to use a week of my dad's RCI timeshare, but want to make a hotel ressie as a back up in case the timeshare doesn't go thru. We are looking for a decent place, not too expensive. It doesn't have to be within walking distance, since we will have a car. Here are some of the places that I have found that sound reasonable: Best Western Anaheim Inn (1630 S. Harbor) at $80.10 per night Anaheim Vagabond Inn (2145 S. Harbor) at $65 per night Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites at $89 per night for parlor suite Candy Cane Inn, deluxe w/AAA discount at $117 per night Any opinions? Any others you might recommend? We don't want to spend much more than the $117 I found at the Candy Cane. I am off to AAA's site to see if I can find any other hotels in the area that offer a discount. Thanks for your help!

Re: Off-site hotels: which would u pick? I highly highly highly recommend the Candy Cane Inn - it's definitely worth the extra $. We have stayed at 5 offsite hotels and this is BY FAR our favorite. It's so lovely - there are fresh flowers just everywhere and they take such great care of the landscaping. The rooms are great - the beds are actually comfy. The soundproofing is wonderful - we were right next to the housekeeping room (where they go all morning with carts, etc.) and didn't hear them once. The little breakfast in the morning is the standard fare, but fresh and yummy. The pool was always the right temperature (although it's pretty small). There's also a hot tub under a little gazebo. I could go on and on.....

Re: Off-site hotels: which would u pick? I'd second Tina on the Candy Cane Inn on your list. We loved it there. We've also stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites, and the rooms are huge, and the staff was friendly. It's more your basic sleep and shower accomodations.

Re: Off-site hotels: which would u pick? We stayed at Anaheim Desert Inn in February. Great location across the street from entrance. We had a parlor suite and there was plenty of room for myself, DH and DD (age 4). Rooms are basic, nothing fancy but clean and it did have a fridge and microwave which came in handy for breakfast and snacks. Didn't use the continental breakfast in the morning as I'd read that it was nothing to write home about so we simply skipped it and purchased food at a local grocery store instead. I have also stayed at HOJO but got a better deal this time at Desert Inn. Staff was friendly and helpful. Could hear the neighbors in the rooms next door a few nights but that could happen at any hotel. Would stay here again. Have fun where ever you stay!!!

Re: Off-site hotels: which would u pick? Although we ended up choosing an onsite hotel (leastwise my son did since he's paying the bill ), I had done a lot of research on off-site accommodations before that. To me, the Candy Cane Inn looked like the best overall deal when you consider both value and quality. Joy

| Re: Off-site hotels: which would u pick? I'm going to throw in my vote for the Candy Cane Inn, since we just got back from there last night! It was WONDERFUL! Comphy, cosy beds, spotlessly clean, beautiful, and well taken care of grounds,& wonderful staff. They have their own bus that goes back and forth to the park, which we never used because it is an easy and pleasant walk. The breakfast is more then you need. No eaggs or waffles or stuff, but hot and cold cereal, pastries, muffins, bagels, toast, apples bananas, oranges. It was perfect. I wouldn't consider staying anywhere else if I get to go again. | Re: Off-site hotels: which would u pick? Thanks for the feedback, guys! Last night we booked a parlor suite at the Anaheim Desert Inn. Another one of our friends may be joing us, so we need 2 beds and a sofa bed. Otherwise we might have gone for the Candy Cane Inn. We like the fact that the hotel is close and is reasonably priced. The on-site hotels were just too much, even with the CM discount we could get. Thanks for the tips! Can't wait for the trip! |
