Best off property hotel If you had to pick your favorite "off property hotel", which one would it be, and why? I am thinking of a trip to DL in about a year with a freind and her daughter. There are so many off property hotels. Thanks. KathyL

Re: Best off property hotel We've stayed at 5 good neighbor hotels, and Candy Cane Inn is far and away our favorite. It's very pretty - tons of blooming plants and hanging flowers. The rooms are very cute with quilts instead of bedspreads and wooden shutters on the windows. We had 4 in our room and had plenty of room leftover. They also have deluxe rooms with more room. The free breakfast was good - we used it 5 out of 6 mornings. Also the noise volume was very low. We were on the bottom floor and couldn't hear the people above or next to us. Highly recommend it. On the other hand, I would stay far far away from the Ramada Inn Maingate. We had an awful stay there - dirty rooms, noise all night, etc.

Re: Best off property hotel We stayed at the Anabella Hotel in 2005 and it was fine. We had a 1 bedroom with a daybed in an off corner. It was within walking distance of DL and had a nice breakfast brunch in their restaurant. It was listed as a moderate and we weren't there long enough to try out the amenities but other than that it was fine. Reminded me of a Holiday Inn Express.

Re: Best off property hotel We really like Candy Cane Inn too. We had a wonderful stay there. The rooms are nice and clean and the staff friendly. We also had a good stay at Tropicana. It was not quite as nice as the Candy Cane, but clean and cheap. We got a special with our airfare for less than $50 a night! We used to always stay at Desert Inn and Suites and it was a huge room...more than enough for our family of 6. It has an indoor pool, which was nice in the winter. The free breakfast at both the Tropicana and the Desert Inn are not something I'd do again, but considering the low cost of the room, and the location of the property (about as close as you can get unless you spring for the GCH) it didn't really bother me. Both rooms had fridges and microwaves, and we brought our own stuff.

Re: Best off property hotel We stayed at the Carousel Inn and Suites. It was good in that it was right across the street from the Matterhorn. But it was in the middle of a major renovation at the time. No Laundry room(As promised) and no swimming pool(As promised). That work though should be completed by now though. We loved being so close to the Disney park and it was a lot cheaper. We had a liquor store close for room snacks(We had a fridge and a microwave). We had an IHOP and a Denny's close for food. Its not a fancy motel(The Candy Cane looked great) but it was clean and friendly. The Disney motel looked old and slightly ragged. But at the Disney Motel they have the great waterfalls. Have fun!! And don't check in before three o clock. We got there early to check in and had to wait a couple of hours. That was a drag. LMAO! Yes we haven't traveled much the last few years--can you tell?? scott

Re: Best off property hotel We just got back from the Candy Cane Inn. My DD said it was the best hotel she has ever stayed in. My DH said we would stay there again if we ever go back. We loved the queen sized beds, the continental breakfast, the heated pool, the blooming flowers, the free shuttle to DLR. It was all great! Highly, highly recommended.

Re: Best off property hotel We stayed at the Coast Anaheim in 2003 - it was pretty well cared for - clean & tidy. I don't think it had a fridge in the room. However, it was a longer walk to the parks than we'd estimated... we ended up getting the Trolley pass our last 2 days.

Hyatt Orange County is nice but... I do recommend Hyatt OC, however the shuttlebus runs twice an hour so it's not as convenient as some of the other hotels. We stayed there in Dec 06 and because there were so many marching bands staying there, the wait for the elevators was horrible (teenagers going up and down continuously). The room was very nice and also the view so if you don't mind being further away it's probably no problem. Because the shuttle runs during normal Disneyland hours only, you can't make it for early entry unless you get a taxi, so that's a bit of a pain. We're staying at the Camelot next time (July 07), not as nice but it seems to get good reviews and is much more convenient!

We stayed at the CCI December 29, 2006 to January 4, 2007 Everything that people say about the place is true. The grounds are breath taking and stunningly beautiful. The rooms are very clean and the staff take great pride in their work. Every staff member that we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious enough for our family of four and we aslo had a rollaway bed in our room. My children loved the pool area and it was great to soak away our sore walking feet in the hot tub. Breakfast was ample and exactly what we needed heading for a busy day at Disneyland. Both kids enjoyed having a cup of hot chocolate every morning. We stayed on the second floor facing Disneyland and were able to see the fireworks when we were not at the park. We also used the table and chairs outside our room frequently to sit and visit and enjoy the lush flowers and plants around us. The families we met while siiting arround the pool were freindly most said that they had been coming to the CCI for 10 years now and that they always come back becuase it is such a great place. Now the shuttle was AWESOME. The drivers were friendly and helpful. The shuttle came every half hour on time every time. We did walk and it is a short 5 min walk to the gate but after a full day at the park it was nice to ride. We also were able to go to many eateries thatr were very close proximity to this property either by walking or taking the shuttle. We are already planning our next stay and it will be at the CCI for sure. Try this place you will not be disapointed. ![]()

| I LOVED the Ayres Hotel Anaheim. I may be there in June or July for my sisters wedding (not at DL, but in the area) and I'd like to stay there again.
