Switching Resorts at DisneyLAND

Hi all!!

From being a lerker I know there are many of you who have switched resorts mid stay at Disney World but has anyone ever done it at DisneyLAND? We are thinking of going in Feb and staying at Disneyland Hotel for a few nights and then switching to Grand Californian. Can we do this? How do we go about getting our luggage tranported or do we take it ourselves? Are they close enough to carry our luggage if we have to since we aren't planning on renting a car. Any help/ insite would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!!

First of all, to the boards.

I don't know if the hotels will switch your luggage for you. I would think they would. If you have to move it yourself, they are close enough to each other you could do it. Disneyland Hotel is at one end of Downtown Disney. The Grand Californian's entrance is at the middle of DTD. Makes it really easy. We didn't stay at either hotel, but we ate at both. We would park at DTD and walk to each of them. Piece of cake! Good luck and have a great trip!

Re: Switching Resorts at DisneyLAND

We have resort-hopped. We did transport our own luggage (we had a rental car). You can certainly ask if they'll do it for you, but I suspect it's not a regular service on their part. When you consider the number of hotels and guestrooms involved, and that the typical length of stay at Disneyland is significantly shorter than stays at WDW... it's just not something that's likely to come up frequently.

If you just have a couple of bags, you could just walk between the resorts. Paradise Pier and Grand Californian are a very reasonable walk - not much worse than the distances involved schlepping your bags around the airport. The distances between Disnelyand Hotel and the other two are greater. For those, a taxi would be cheap and convenient if Disney wouldn't do it for you.

Re: Switching Resorts at DisneyLAND

My girlfriend just did this. She was at the PPH frist and then switched over to GCH. Everything is so close it is not a problem. Only thing you might want to be aware of, if you have a car is, the GCH parking is accross the street from the hotel. You also have the option of valet parking, we found that to be worth the extra cash when staying at the Grand.
