Re: staying onsite

There are early entry days at Disneyland where the park is open an hour early to guests holding a multi-day park-hopper. The early entry isn't tied to your lodging as it is at WDW. There's also the ability to charge to your room from certain gift shops/eateries in the parks, but it's done with little slip of paper and a picture ID rather than your room card. Personally, I think the big benefit of staying onsite is being immersed in the Magic 24/7. And location if it's the Grand Californian.

Re: staying onsite

Another free perk that is available only to guests staying at one of the three Disneyland resort hotels is the use of the services of the Disney Vacation Planners. These folks are fabulous. We used them for our trip last July. They booked all of our meals, behind the scenes tours and special experiences such as balcony viewing of Fantasmic, etc. Not only did they get me every single item on my wish list but when we checked in, they provided me with a printed out itinerary for our entire stay.

Re: staying onsite

I just got back and stayed off site at the Camelot Inn & Suites - We had early admission and some other perks we got from booking through AAA. From what I could tell we were a shorter walk from the entrance plaza than either the Paradise Pier Hotel and the Disneyland Hotel. Grand Californian Hotel was in the park so that one was closer. But there was no "disney magic" like there is at on site hotels at WDW. But since off site is so much cheaper we gave that up but were so close I would do it again and get the "magic" in the parks.

[/ QUOTE ] Joy, I completely forgot about the vacation planning. I'm using their services for my upcoming trip and I couldn't be happier! It's a great benefit!
