| If you are talking the three Disney hotels, the closest to both parks is Grand Californian. It is the best quality, but many people like the theme of the DL hotel as much (its about the equivalent of about an additional 2 city blocks. There are lots of moderate motels right across from the main entrance. The rest have bus services (some free some under the Anaheim Resort Transit). The higher end non Disney hotels are all a short (1/4 to 1 mile) away.

| My vote would be for the Candy Cane Inn. It is within walking distance but also has a dedicated shuttle. CCI offers beatiful grounds, free continental breakfast and clean rooms.

| We feel in love with GCH on our DL trip. It is costly, but well worth it! We were pampered perfectly! The rooms are gorgeous. The lobby inviting. The closeness to both parks is a walk out the door. We loved going through the GCH entrance of CA. No long lines to wait getting into the park. If you want to be spoiled I'd go with GCH. But if you'd rather have more $$$ for shopping, I understand the other hotels are just as wonderful. Have fun planning!

| If you want to try something totally different from anything available at WDW, then I highly recommend staying at the Disneyland Hotel. This resort is so steeped in Disney memorabilia that you truly feel like you're part of the Disney magic. Imagine lying in your bed at night and watching Tinkerbell light up the entire border of your wallpaper with pixie dust or sleeping in a bed with Cinderella castle ingrained in the headboard or swimming in the beautifully themed Neverland pool. And then there are the absolutely gorgeous grounds. As for the Grand Californian, yes it's also a beautiful hotel but to me it seems very similar in overall look and feel to the Wilderness Lodge at WDW. The GC is closer in walking distance to the two theme parks than the DLH but the DLH is much closer to the monorail station than the GC is so it's six of one and half dozen of another. Another feature of the DLH that we got a big kick out of was the presence of characters (frequently Goofy) in the hotel lobby meeting and greeting guests. Joy

| If you got little ones the DLH is the one. If you got the cash GCH is sooooooo grand. If you got teenagers or older and want casual and great service the PPH is just fine

| I'd say the Grand Californian is the best and nicest, not to mention its a few steps from the entrances of both parks. I've stayed at all 3 and by far the Grand Californian is the best, followed by the Disneyland Hotel and then Paradise Pier. I'm a new DVC member and for the points the DH is probably the most sensible point wise, and it is a great hotel. If you want to splurge go with the GC, it is a lot like the WL, and you can also enter DCA from the hotel! We love that option! It is all a matter of opinion I guess. All 3 are great hotels! I know you'll love which ever one you choose!!!

| I think it all depends on what you're looking for. If you want a breezy California feeling and the only thing in your room that says "Disney" is the lamp...the the Paradise Pier Hotel is for you. If you want to be totally immersed in Disney...then the Disneyland Hotel has that feel from top to bottom (the Disney Hotel is noisy, though. It's easy to hear the people in the next room and people walking in the hallways.) If you're looking for a wilderness feel and a room in which the only thing "Disney" is the Bambi shower curtain. If you like to have your bed turned down for you at night and to find chocolates on your bed when you arrive in your room in the evening, then the Grand Californian is for you. The Paradise Pier has always been my least favorite. The Disneyland Hotel use to be my favorite. I enjoy the Disney theme and felt like the Grand Californian, although very nice, was just too fluffy for me. BUT after staying a couple of times at the Grand Californian, then going back for a stay at the Disneyland Hotel, I changed my mind. Though I still enjoy the douse yourself in Disney theme of the Disneyland hotel, I prefer the quiet atmosphere of the Grand Californian. Hearing the kids next door and the elevator going up and down at the Disneyland Hotel changed my mind. I much prefer to get a peaceful nights sleep so I can venture out the next day. I've heard it said, though, that in a few years the Disneyland Hotel will be demolished and then rebuilt...if they make it accoustically better and keep the theme, it will be my favorite again! |

| I think the hotel choice has a lot to do with who is going with you. Will there be children going or just adults. I can see why families might prefer the DLH for the pure Disney theaming. We are staying on DVC points for our trip and we are staying at the GCH. It is just my husband and I on the trip. We love the theme of the hotel and the location can not be beaten. I love the fact that the hotel is practically in the park. |

| We were in Disneyland for our first trip out there together--and our 1st DL trip since we were kids (in my case about 4 yo), so we decided to splurge (for us) and stay "in the magic" of the Disneyland Hotel. We never saw a character except at breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen, it was too cold to use the admittedly gorgeous pool, the Tinker Bell border didn't light up, and it was noisy, noisy, noisy. Our final morning, they even had a carpet crew recarpeting the hallway one floor below us, and we were awakened at 6 am by hammers! It was horrible, and the best they could do for us was give us $50 off the total price of our stay. We just didn't feel like it was magical at all. I think when we get to go back out there, we'll just save our money and stay off site! Of course, we could have been there at a bad time--however, I know the hotel was full, so it wasn't an off-season sort of experience. Actually, all the hotels were full that weekend, and so were all the Good Neighbor hotels. Why in the world would the DLH have a carpet crew in at 6 am during a full season? Anyway, we were not impressed with anything but the pool area. That is truly gorgeous, and I would be willing to give the DLH another chance if we go during warmer weather. However, my DH really does not want to stay there again. He said he'd rather try the PP, where even if the theming isn't super-Disney, at least you can pop right in to DCA! As always, YMMV. Just my 2 cents' worth. |
