| We are headed to DL at the end of september and I am the un-official planner and I am up to my eyeballs in too much info. My DH and I will be traveling with my mom to see some family and of course Disney. We are looking for a small suite type hotel so we can all have some privacy. I think I have it narrowed down to a few selections, so if anyone can weigh in on any choices I would be ever so thankful the one's I am thinking of are: Portofino Inns and Suites Desert Palms Hotel and Suites La Quinta Anaheim Desert Inn and suite any help or personal testimony would be great! | You can try tripadvisor.com for reviews of all the mentioned hotels. That's what we did. I've been researching suite hotels for our next trip, since we are a party of six after our two-year-old turns three. I'm not paying $550 a night for a suite at the DLH!La Quinta Suites I would stay away from, if it is the one on Clementine St. It used to be our favorite hotel when it was Crystal Suites, way back when, but reviews have gone downhill since they were Best Western, and worse since La Quinta took over. For our trip, I have narrowed our search to the Residence Inn on Harbor Blvd, (not the Residence Inn Maingate,) and the Doubletree Suites, also on Harbor. RI has a full kitchen and hot breakfast buffet, as well as a nightly weeknight reception, and is about $50 more per night than the Doubletree. Doubletree, however, has an onsite lounge and restaurant and coffee house, and we love Doubletree beds! Both have shuttle access, and both received great reviews on tripadvisor. We have reservations at both right now, but I'm cancelling the RI, since a) we are eating breakfast at the DLR three of the four days, b) having a lounge to grab a drink for poolside or relaxing after a day in the parks is very nice, and c) I require good coffee to function--in room coffeemakers don't cut it. I'm hoping for a better rate at the last minute, but it's for July, so I'm not holding my breath. |

| Portofino Inn and Suites was beautiful. We stayed there during our first trip to DL in '01. The pool is teeny tiny, but they do have a hot tub, which is nice. Our room was huge. I think we may have been upgraded to a deluxe room for free, but I never did ask. We had a full balcony on our room, too. The staff was super nice and fixed a lightbulb that was out about 5 minutes after I called. I would definitely recommend it. Haven't stayed at the others you mentioned. I should mention that Portofino and the neighboring Jolly Roger Hotel are owned by the same people and you have pool rights at both hotels. So even though the pool at Portofino is small, you can walk right across the parking lot to the much larger Jolly Roger pool.

| We stayed at the Portofino Inns and Suites in February '06 and loved it. We too were upgraded without asking to a suite and had more than enough room. It was a little too chilly to check out the pool that time so I can't say much about it. The staff was very nice and accomodating.

| We have stayed at the Anaheim Desert inn and suites. If you get the basic suite the front rom is just a little room with a fold out couch and tv, the second room had the two beds, micro, fridge and bath with jacuzzi. Look at the floor layout to see what they have. I think I would want a bigger one next time. We stayed there because it is right by the cross walk into Disneyland. You couldn't ask for a closer location. The breakfast was nothing special, danish, bagels and juice but it was something to put in your belly. We usually eat breakfast at Disneyland anyway. |

| Thanks for weighing in on my dilemma. We decided to book a room at the Portofino, so the fact that I got a few good few great responses about it made me so much more confidant about the whole idea! Thanks a bunch. |
