Just Back from a stay at Grand Cal.

We spent a wonderful weekend celebrating our 14th Anniversary at Disney's Grand Californian. The Crowds were actually light at DLR even though it was Memorial Day Weekend. I'd be happy to answer any questions that I can.

I have a question. DH and I are torn on where to stay on our next trip. Whether we are going to stay at DLH or GCH? What do you think and why?

GC...my DW is running the half marathon this labor day weekend and wanted to catch a few good pictures of them running through downtown disney from our room. also, there is a 'top ten reasons to stay at GC'. and i have read fabulous reviews of GC...not to say that i haven't read good things about DLH, though.

I actually wrote this post last year after Memorial Day weekend, but we happened to have just stayed there again this year with two of my preschool students. I would vote for the Grand Cal. It is an amazing place - the lobby is fantastic, the rooms are elegant and views can't be beat. The convience to the theme parks is great, the dining is wonderful and we love the pools. Especially if you are going for your anniversary - GCH is the way to go!

We think GC is the nicest of the three DLR resorts. It is most similar to Wilderness Lodge at WDW.

We are not super fancy people so we chose a quiet lunch at Storyteller's Cafe (without the characters) for our anniversary. The Napa Rose is a beautiful place with a beautiful view. If you like a elegant meal with an amazing wine selection to go with it then you would love this place! We toured it on the Art of the Craft tour and met the chef....very elegant!
