Question Changing Hotels MID-TRIP???

OK - question.

I'm planning to come September 16-20 - just myself and our youngest (DD6). We'd planned to stay at the DH for the 4 nights - but saw a suggestion about changing to a cheaper Hotel around night 3 but still getting to use our 4-day Hoppers with EE privileges that we get upon check-in.

Has anyone ever done this to save some money? Can we still use the monorail station in DD and use EE - even if we switch to - say - HoJo's or something?

Thanks for your help - please respond soon as I'd like to make resvs in the next couple of days or so.

EE is M,Tu & Th of your trip. If you wait to check out on Tues a.m., you can use EE on M & Tu but I am not sure about Th. Usually if you buy a 4 day Hopper and don't stay at a Disney Hotel, you can have one EE so they might still let you in on Th on your Hopper but you can't get in from being at DH earlier in the week. You can still use the monorail station but very few cheaper hotels are closer to the Monorail than the main entrance (the ones that are, are located way at the end of the block and across the street). Disney will hold your luggage on your check out day until you are ready to switch hotels but then you will have to transfer it yourself. If you are renting a car it might not be so bad, but if not it will be a little tricky. Our favorite non-Disney hotels are on Harbor Blvd. right across from the main entrance so we can walk back and forth and not have to drive to the resort or take a shuttle. You'll have to see if the savings is worth the hassle ???? You will definitely want the stroller you were considering if you stay at a non-Disney hotel!

Thank you so much - that really helps! I'm thinking it might be best just to pay the $$ and stay put - not worth the hassle.

Thanks Again!

Unhappy

You know, I tried to get that offer - and all they have it for are Suites (Can you say $2,000 for 4 nights?)

I don't know if I just called too late or if that's all they really had.

Thanks for the suggestions, tho!

I think you've made a wise decision to just stay at one hotel and skip the whole switching hotels process. Even at WDW, where they do all the moving of the luggage for you, it's still a royal pain in the neck. I only did the split stay thing once and never again. For me, the whole unpacking, then repacking and unpacking again really served to spoil the lovely peaceful, relaxing flow of my vacation.

The Disney Magic works in mysterious ways! I did just the opposite of what you had considered, but ended up switching to the Disneyland Resort Hotel because we were so unhappy off property. You will be happy - and way less hassle than moving!
