| Carousel Inn or Desert Inn? OK, I'm going to DL next month and I'm down to deciding between two hotels: the Carousel Inn and the Desert Inn. They seem about the same distance from DL, but the Carousel Inn is $100 more than the Desert Inn. I've heard mixed things about the Desert Inn, but I'm really just looking for a room to sleep and shower. I know both have free breakfast, but I'll probably end up eating at IHOP or Denny's most days. Which one would you stay at: the Carousel Inn or the Desert Inn? Thanks in advance!

| Gosh, I have never stayed at either, but I am sure someone will come along that can give you their insight!

| We stayed at the desert Inn & suites last August and thought they were just fine. We ate breakfast at Denny's most mornings, unless we were eating at the park. The walk to Disney was shorter than some of the on-site hotels. The room we had at the Desert Inn was clean and comfy. We only paid $89 per night for the parlor suite, which had a bedroom with 2 beds (queen, i think) and a LR area with a pull out sofa bed (double I think). Each room had a TV and the LR had a minim-fridge. The sink is in the BR, then the toilet & shower/tub is in it's own room. We could see the fireworks nicely from our back window (we were on the 4th floor). I was concerned when we were next to the elevators, but we never heard them and the noise was minimal. I would stay there again.

| We stayed at the Desert Inn & Suites last March and had a great time there. We found the accommodations to be clean and comfortable and the staff to to be friendly and courteous. The price couldn't be beat and we even took advantage of the free continental breakfast each morning. It wasn't anything fancy but we're not big breakfast eaters to start with. If you're just looking for a cozy place to lay your head at night, this hotel more than fits the bill. Joy

| I stayed at the Carousel Inn two years ago. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The continental breakfast was OK; I'm more of an eggs and toast girl, but since it was free, I took advantage. The view from the breakfast room was awesome - overlooks Disneyland. I loved being right across the street from the park. The room was clean. I was staying there alone and I felt safe. I don't recall exactly what I paid; it was around $70-80 per night. I would stay there again if for no other reason than the location. Last year I stayed at the Alpine Inn and it was a little too far away for my taste - I didn't like walking back there at night alone after being in the park all day. |
