I did find that site very useful - but now I don't think geocities is functioning anymore. Does anyone know if this site moved somewhere else, or is it gone....

I guess the site was down for maintenance or something, because I rechecked it and it worked for me that time. I looked into it a bit more - Yahoo is supposed to be discontinuing Geocities by the end of 2009. Hopefully the site will move somewhere else before then.

Debi, YAHOO has decided to cut costs I guess and has closed all of GeoCities. This means that Bret's web site went into the trash can unless of course he was able to find a new location for the web site, in which case, does anyone know what the addy might be?

I received a reply from Bret.

The LinkMap was something that Bret created 10 years ago after tiring of drawing countless maps for coworkers, family and friends detailing where to stay while visiting Disneyland. While Bret stated that he has received countless emails from grateful travelers over the last 10 years, he decided to shut it down after GeoCities was closed for good. He recommends Google Earth (with the lodging layer enabled). He tells me that is what he suggests to all his friends.

If you like misinformation then yes, Google Earth is the place to go. Since when is there THREE hotels/motels in the middle of the intersection leading into the parking lot on the south side of the Paradise Pier Hotel? Namely The Travelodge Anaheim Apollo, The Travelodge Westgate and the Pan Pacific Hotel and oh ya, if you want a great place to eat, be sure to go to Hook's Point located in the middle of the parking lot just south of the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure. I am sure they will have lots of space to seat you.
What I am saying is if a person does not know that area at all, Google Earth will totally get them more confused than they already may be. Who knows, maybe the "paid membership' to Google Earth has different maps but who wants to buy Google Earth Pro at the tune of $400? It would be much better if people would be referred to the Anaheim Convention and Visitors web site at
Anaheim Orange County California at least this information is more up to date. Sorry for sounding so bitter but Google Earth is not as great as most people make it out to be, in fact no part of Google is all that great.

That is a map of local hotels.

That is an easy one to use.

Nothing wrong with getting upset with a company that is supposed to be providing a service but fails dismally at their job.

Thanks for the new maps from Anaheim OC. I'm disappointed that Bret's map resource is no longer available, but these new maps look like a good resource too.
